About Pleasure Forever

PLEASURE FOREVER is not currently active, but the long-awaited release featuring unreleased songs (some of which have been posted here in the past), B-sides and compilaiton tracks is set for official release worldwide on May 22, 2007 via Conspiracy Records. Each band member lives in a different city on the west coast and is involved in other musical projects at this time. Andrew Rothbard released his first solo album Abandoned Meander in late 2006 on Smooch Records. David Clifford currently plays drums in RED SPAROWES (also see Red Sparowes' MySpace page) and bass guitar in THE SAGITTARIANS. Josh Hughes has a new band called RABBITS featuring ex-Lion Fever drummer Kevin Garrison.

The mysterious imagery and allusions to dark excess on Pleasure Forever's self-titled debut was often consdered a concept album that celebrated living life on the brink of collapse (landing on Buddyhead.com's "Best of 2001" list with the following: "Songs about drugs and orgies made with only guitar, piano, and drums's) The trio's second full-length for Sub Pop is as intense, brooding and taut as we've come to expect. But, there's an increased emphasis on the payoff, the catharsis at the root of all good, visceral rock and roll. With Alter Pleasure Forever sounds evermore lush, heavy and sinister while maintaining its warped '60s pop undercurrent. The new record combines the swooning melodies and lyrical riddles of The Smiths with the ominous tone of early Black Sabbath and the haunting essence of antique American music. Pleasure Forever was once known as SLAVES and all thee members played previously in The VSS.
