In the tradition of bands with named horn sections, the PLEASURE POINT HORNS were named in 1986 by trumpeter and public relations guy DAN YOUNG as the horn section for Santa Cruz, California ska-reggae-surf band SQUARE ROOTS: www.myspace.com/squarerootssantacruz
When Dan left the band in 1993, he kept the PLEASURE POINT HORNS (named after the Santa Cruz surf ghetto where all the band members lived and surfed) together as a 'rent-a-horn-section' group.
The PPH provides horns for recording and live performance projects including film and TV soundtracks
( http://www.pfilbryte.com/ ). The PPH has a broad contact list and can provide any size horn section for any size project, from a solo instrumentalist to a full symphonic wind ensemble.
Members of the PPH play a variety of musical genres - ska to symphonic - and are involved in the music community as music educators, mentors and board members of the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival ( scjf.org ), the Santa Cruz Pops ( santacruzpops.com ) and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center ( http://www.kuumbwajazz.org/index.php ).
