Formed in the late 1980s under the name "Mystery Theater", the band played popular clubs around L.A. With the help of legendary trumpet player, Steve Madaio, they were eventually signed to Hollywood Records in 1990 and changed the band's name to "Pleasure Thieves". The first song released was a cover of The Who’s "Boris the Spider" featured on the Arachnophobia soundtrack in 1990. Their first, full CD called "Simple Escape" was produced by Julian Raymond and Steve Madaio and released in 1991. The band played a few select cities around the country promoting the album and radio airplay. They also released singles of "Blue Flowers" and "My Favorite Drug". One music video was made for "My Favorite Drug" directed by award-winning music video director, Samuel Bayer. With the rise of the grunge music movement, Hollywood Records dropped the band from the label in 1992. The Pleasure Thieves broke up shortly thereafter to pursue separate careers.
