"The band plays a strange, eerie blend of goth influenced outsider folk."-We Shot JR
"An interesting blend of late-era Swans darkness and a Tindersticks-meets-Woody Guthrie penchant for acoustic instruments that benifits immensely from the fact that when the band plays live, the two vocalists, Jason Reed and Elicia Capehart produce some of the tightest and strangest vocal harmonies you'll ever hear."- Dallas Observer "Very strange, like The Cramps playing folk music or something."-We shot JR. Plexus Loom's music has been described as gothic folk. Whatever the pigeonhole, Jason Reed and Elicia Capehart's chilling, mostly acoustic act is probably unlike anything you've likely heard before.-GuideLive.com
PLEXUS LOOM IS DEAD AND GONE, BUT STAY HERE FOR NEW SONGS AND SHOWS BY JASON CLYDE REED. CHECK OUT THE ONES UP ALREADY-Plexus Loom has really been about five different projects over the last 10 years. It grew out of an experimental improv band called Myrrh that included Kirk Maeder (guitar), Mike Goodsell (drums) and Jason Clyde Reed (bass). After the destruction of this band Jason Clyde and Mike joined Kirk, Lilly Lawless and later Dell Little (keys/Myrrh) for a band called Amphora. As there was some Emo band with this name they decided to change it and came up with Plexus Loom. Think of it as a creation myth and perhaps you can figure it out. Just never ask the band what it means. The early Plexus Loom played mostly at fetish balls and strange parties with severed pigs heads and naked people doing foul things. During this time Jason Clyde started writing for his 1st instrument (guitar) again and singing. Plexus Loom went on first without Dell, then without Lilly. During the destruction of this band Jason Clyde was playing bass with another band that wanted to do his songs. No record of this band exists except in the practice recordings of some coke head whom no one has seen in years. Jason Clyde continued Plexus Loom with drummer Scott Straley and bassist Sam Thompson. Just as they were ready to record...dun, dun, duuuuuun...tragedy struck in the form of JCR mangling the fingertips of two fingers on his left fret hand on a circular machine blade that ended in a trip to the emergency room and 11 stitches. This resulted in a full year off from music. Just as he was regaining his former skill and planning a move to Spain, Jason Clyde Reed met Elicia Capehart the old fashioned way...at a bar. They immediately found a musical affinity in vocal harmonies and Elicia's flute solos. In September of 2003 they moved to Madrid, Spain together, reformed Plexus Loom along with Panamanian bassist and percussionist Ivan Raymores, and recorded the current demo on offer. They finally returned to Dallas with a suitcase full of songs in the summer of 2006 where they reconnected with original drummer Mike Goodsell. Elicia and Clyde have since split up, but continue the band much like Fleetwood Mac, minus the huge success part. Now featuring former drummer Scott Straley (sometimes) on percussion.
