In March of 2005, Jake Vossler (guitars), Daniel Rosenboom (trumpets/keyboards), Orest Balaban (basses), and Austin Wrinkle (drums), came together to form a unique musical experience. Combining the sounds of Balkan folk music, rock, jazz improvisation, PLOTZ! created a style of music-making which is at once intriguing, fresh, electrifying, and absolutely wild! Between 2005 and 2007, PLOTZ! played all over Southern California on various stages, clubs, and colleges.
In early 2007, they released their first studio album, "Extraordinary Renditions" on their own PLOTZ! Music Productions label. This CD won international acclaim when it received "Best International Instrumental CD" in the 2007 Toronto Exclusive Magazine Music Awards, as well as "Best Instrumental CD" and "Best Instrumental Song" (Splash, by Daniel Rosenboom) in the 2007 M.A.V.R.I.C. Awards in Ventura County, CA.
After some expansion and restructuring over the course of 2007 PLOTZ! debuted a new lineup in October of 2007, adding saxophonist Gavin Templeton and woodwind madman, Brian Walsh, as well as Antony DiGennaro on bass. PLOTZ! is currently preparing to record their new lineup (and new repertoire!) as well as continuing their live performance.
