Finals Showcase: March 15, 2008
Plowshares Coffeehouse in Phoenixville , PA will be hosting its seventh annual Singer-Songwriter Competition. Eight entrants will be selected to perform at the Finals Showcase on March 15, 2008. Each finalist will receive $100. One Grand Prize winner will be selected by our judges including (TBA). The Grand Prize is $500, an invite to perform at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and includes a showcase feature at the next Finals Showcase. The Finals Showcase will also feature sets by Red Molly and the 2007 Grand Prize winner, Jud Caswell.
Judging of entries will focus on songwriting and performance. While "production" is not a criteria for this contest, sound quality does matter, so please make a good recording. Co-writes are acceptable, but one of the writers must perform the song. Keep in mind that songs must be performed solo at the finals showcase. Eight Finalists will be selected by an anonymous pre-judging panel consisting of Philadelphia local songwriters (judges will not know name of songwriter). In addition to the eight ’showcase’ finalists who will be eligible for the Grand Prize, eight more songwriters will gain ’finalist’ recognition.

Hey, Plowshares: I'd love to be a part of your gig on the 15th, I'm just a little too far west. Out here in Phoenix, rather than Phoenixville. Sad. We don't really have a venue like you describe out this way, and the singer songwriter is just a notch above homeless vet on the societal food chain.
Congrats to all the showcase and recognized finalists... there is some major talent on that list (which certainly softens the blow for those of us who didn't make it this year.)Well done, everyone! -Jim
Salut!!
Thanks for the add for taking the time to listen..much appreciated!!any comment or feedback would be great..anyways, its Christmas Day so Merry Christmas!!! IT's a bit hot here in Bangkok so the feeling isn't really the same. Season Greetings :)
