Schlendrian! Schlendrian! unter der Laterne...
Die Nacht ist nicht allein zum Schlafen da,

Berauscht euch, Freunde, singt und liebt und lacht

Die Nacht, die man in einem Rausch verbracht

Nebelgeist ~ Finest Poisons since 1884~ has to decide which Bob Dylan song would be the best for the reading next week Posted at 5:04 AM Nov 16 view more
It was a long and gloomy night that gathered on me, haunted by the ghosts of many hopes, of many dear remembrances, many errors, many unavailing sorrows and regrets.- Dickens, David Copperfield
All the facts, you need to know! All the facts you shouldnt need to know!
Two souls, alas! reside within my breast-Im a lovely geek who is in love with the strange and beautiful. So many lovely things captured my heart all through the years and became real good friends.
You may heard of me as the worlds most infamous fortune teller- and maybe you have already thrown addled eggs in my direction on your local renaissance fair... but hey, Hecate herself has made a lot of mistakes in her past, too, and we all know that she the greatest witch of all now these days, so hold your breath, fairy boy! ;)
The sad truth:
I have studied History of Arts, Cultural History and Comparative Religion at the University of Jena. And because being an Arthistorian is a good way to starve for a living, I..ve decided to become a Bookseller afterwards and I proudly have to say that it..s the best job in the whole universe. Even if it..s not something one does for the money (the salary is awful and the ugly pink-and-baby-blue Cecelia Ahern covers are haunting your dreams every night), Im feeling damn happy with it.
I love good books (does not include any of the baby blue, pink or lilac ones), movies, music and art in general and collect a lot of useless information about famous (or not so famous) dead persons. If you like to drink a glass of red vine and talk about Alexander Scriabins "Mysterium" or the last days in the life of Lola Montez with me, well, that would be awesome. ;) And I absolutely *hate* TV and girl magazines. Really. I know it is a perfect, snobbish bookseller cliche, but..I..m serious: it really makes me SICK.
Ive got a faible for bearded women, mysterious bustle-dressed courtesans,depressed artists, fine Gentlemen with razorblades and Mike, the headless chicken. If any of these decriptions fit to you, do NOT take this for an invitation, I just love to look at you from a distance...except for the depressed artists, maybe: We could have amazing Prozac parties together. But don..t you dare touch one of my ears! ,)
I..m collecting antiques, mostly curiosities, clothing, books or religious kitsch. I adore taxidermy, bones, tarot cards, bibles, teapots, dolls and daguerreotypes. The fave thing I own is a 1860s portrait of Saint Mary, which is supposed to be haunted. People might say, my hobbies are a bit offbeat- but I would call it interesting.
When I was 14 years old, I started my very own first punk band. We were young, we were ambitious, we were disatrous. But we had dyed green hair and some cheap guitars. We even had a Kurt Cobain shrine in our rehearsal room!
We split up after 2 months.
After my experience with "The Horny Grandmas" (that was what we used to call ourselves), I played bass in a shitty Riot Grrrl band (which split up after 5 months) and did the vocs for a third class Goth band, which split up after one year and a half, because the world wasn..t yet ready for our seductive blackness (but we celebrated our last gig at a Church Festival like there was no tomorrow, I swear!)
Artistical failures, whereever you look.
I even sorta failed becoming a professional actress. After years of awful roles (The Orator in Ionesco..s The Chairs was quite an experience ;))
and miserable musicals (but I once played Magenta in the Rocky Horror Show! That was awesome!) I had only two opinions: to become a burlesque dancer or to try something else..
In 2001 the German synthpop band Kontrast engaged me as their personal female singer. And I..m still touring with them. Anyway: Touring with them is always damn funny and after 7 years I have quite a bunch of amazing stories to tell my grandchildren one day. ^^ Today I prefer to play Cittern....;)
I also craft a lot of things by myself. Mostly Victorian and Steampunk stuff. So do not count me. I engineer. ;)
And here are some very useless details about my life:
- I would love to name my children Vincent or Charlotte or Nepomuk or Mildred
- When I was about 4 years old, I had a crush on Disney..s Robin Hood and Basil, the great Mouse Detective and Schmendrick, the Magician.
- I believe in fairies. (And I caught one on handycam! :))
- that is why I also believe in the power of Absinthe.
- I dislike people who do not ;)
- I..m afraid of whales (except orcas)
- Tea, coffee, cake and cookies will be my ruin one day
- My Zodiac is Gemini, my ascendant is Scorpio
- My fave number is 4. The most interesting, scary or wonderful things happened to me on dates with 4, I was even born on a 4th in a year with a four
- In my free time, I write eerie stories for children
- Im currently writing on a book with the working title "The Realms of Violet Hills"
- Ive got 3 cats: Viola ,Maynard and Trent
- Im still scared of all those silly Monty Python animation scenes *and* the Yellow Submarine movie
- I cant fell asleep without reading or listening to an audio book, wearing a sleepmask or drinking tea.
- I believe in fate
- My fave word is "biscuit"
- When I was a child, I wanted to be a circus tamer, a cartoonist or a singer
- "One Hand in my Pocket" by Alanis Morrisette is the song which describes me best
Future plans:
-speak Spanish fluently; learn Tango, learn to cook proper Jewish and Creole Food; learn about Ouiltmaking, visit a palm leaf libary; celebrate Día de los Muertos in Mexico; finish the book, Im working on; sew my own wedding-dress :)
Travel a lot: New England States & Louisiana/ USA (I..m planning this journey for over two years now -_-); Mexico & Spain (to learn more about my mother and myself); Peru; Ireland (again! :)), Lourdes & Saintes Maries de la Mer (for obeisance and self-discovery), Austria and India.
"It’s funny but on good days I don’t think of her so much.
In fact never. I never just say hi when the sun is on my tongue and my belly’s all warm. On bad days I talk to Death constantly, not about suicide because honestly that’s not dramatic enough. Most of us love the stage, and suicide is definitely your last performance, and, being addicted to the stage, suicide was never an option.
So we talk.
She says things no one else seems to come up with, like let’s have a hot dog, and then it’s like nothing’s impossible.
She says if you allow yourself to feel the way you really feel, maybe you won’t be afraid of that feeling anymore.
When you’re on your knees you’re closer to the ground. Things seem nearer somehow.
- Tori Amos, Introduction to Neil Gaiman..s Death: The High Cost of Living
Houellebecq - Dernier Temps
Il y aura des journées et des temps difficiles
Et des nuits de souffrance qui semblent insurmountables
Où l’on pleure bêtement les deux bras sur la table
Où la vie suspendue ne tient plus qu’à un fil;
In denen das Leben nur noch an einem Fädchen hängt;
My wonderful Fiance. And me. Obviously. (He likes roly-polies..That..s why we are going to marry...this Victoria thing...it..s nothing serious, she..s a douche. Can...Can I say that...that word..here? Douche?
Don..t you mess with us! The Crew of the Rolly Roger. Thunder, thunder, plush and plunder :D
Who I'd like to meet: ..
Kate Bush. When I was a child, I always wanted to be like her. I started to take singing and dancing lessons just because her work inspired me to. Shes still with me, everytime I have to climb a stage. Any day now, Kate.
David Eugene Edwards. The most moanful and beautiful voice ever put on record. Such a fab Songwriter!
......
Franz Liszt, when he was in his 20s *gg*
Well, good ol Snape. A wonderful mix of all the characters I adore: Dickens Ebenezer Scrooge & Ralph Nickleby, Brontes Heathcliff (!!), Austens Mr Darcy, Hugos Javert, Jill Murphys Miss Hardbroom and Sam The Eagle from the Muppet Show (not to forget Charlie, the Candymountain unicorn XD) He would have made such a brilliant tragic Victorian literature antihero. Snape is somewhat Shakespeare! And even Nabokov would have been impressed!
Dick Turpin.
William Morris
Lotta Crabtree!
People, I don..t want to know:
Count Omar, Shirley, Whatsoever...This horrible, evil and sleeky person. Boo!
You're a very bad man who needs a mommy! ^^
Take hands and part with laughter;
Touch lips and part with tears;
Once more and no more after,
Whatever comes with years.
We twain shall not remeasure
The ways that left us twain;
Nor crush the lees of pleasure
From sanguine grapes of pain.
We twain once well in sunder,
What will the mad gods do
For hate with me, I wonder,
Or what for love with you?
Forget them till November,
And dream there's April yet;
Forget that I remember,
And dream that I forget.
Time found our tired love sleeping,
And kissed away his breath;
But what should we do weeping,
Though light love sleep to death?
We have drained his lips at leisure,
Till there's not left to drain
A single sob of pleasure,
A single pulse of pain.
Dream that the lips once breathless
Might quicken if they would;
Say that the soul is deathless;
Dream that the gods are good;
Say March may wed September,
And time divorce regret;
But not that you remember,
And not that I forget.
We have heard from hidden places
What love scarce lives and hears:
We have seen on fervent faces
The pallor of strange tears:
We have trod the wine-vat's treasure,
Whence, ripe to steam and stain,
Foams round the feet of pleasure
The blood-red must of pain.
Remembrance may recover
And time bring back to time
The name of your first lover,
The ring of my first rhyme;
But rose-leaves of December
The frosts of June shall fret,
The day that you remember,
The day that I forget.
The snake that hides and hisses
In heaven we twain have known;
The grief of cruel kisses,
The joy whose mouth makes moan;
The pulse's pause and measure,
Where in one furtive vein
Throbs through the heart of pleasure
The purpler blood of pain.
We have done with tears and treasons
And love for treason's sake;
Room for the swift new seasons,
The years that burn and break,
Dismantle and dismember
Men's days and dreams, Juliette;
For love may not remember,
But time will not forget.
Life treads down love in flying,
Time withers him at root;
Bring all dead things and dying,
Reaped sheaf and ruined fruit,
Where, crushed by three days' pressure,
Our three days' love lies slain;
And earlier leaf of pleasure,
And latter flower of pain.
Breathe close upon the ashes,
It may be flame will leap;
Unclose the soft close lashes,
Lift up the lids, and weep.
Light love's extinguished ember,
Let one tear leave it wet
For one that you remember
And ten that you forget.
This is to let you know
Tthat there was no moon last night
And that the tide was high
And that on the broken horizon
Glimmered the lights of ships
Twenty at least, like a sedate procession passing by.
This is to let you know
That when I'd turned out the lamp
And in the dark I lay
That suddenly piercing loneliness, like a knife,
Twisted my heart, for you were such a long long way away.
This is to let you know
That there are no English words
That ever could explain
How, quite without warning, lovingly you were here
Holding me close, smoothing away the idiotic pain.
This is to let you know
That all I feel for you
Can never wholly go.
I love you and miss you, even hours away,
With all my heart.
This is to let you know.
Noel Coward- This Is To Let You Know
"I have a great imaginary world, but sometimes I just need things to happen." - Ally McBeal
At first we three thought 'twas the biblical cord of life then nothing 'twas connected to his head.
How strange not to be believed I reached out to feel and the pony's eyes they opened the cord got hard the head looked around and you know who pushed and gushed the waters of life first two hooved feet then the shine of its fur.
But at first to my eyes only feather feathers wings the butterflies flew up in such colors exploding all around us.
The rest I did not see till there he stood all eyes in wonder.
