   John Howard's Blurbs
About me:

I believe, as Leader of the Coalition Government team, we are doing what's right for Australia. But the future-orientated Coalition is about not just managing the good times, we're also providing prudently for inevitable uncertainty and adversity.

The Australian people put their faith in us 11 years ago because they wanted a government prepared to take the long view and to govern with the needs and aspirations of mainstream Australia in mind. They also wanted us to bring renewed ambition to our national life.

Today we can see the fruits of a great, yet unfinished, transformation in Australia. More people are in jobs than ever before. The number of Australians on welfare is down. Household wealth has more than doubled. Business investment is strong.

The job is not yet done. We have transformed Australia, but the Australian renaissance is a work in progress. The distance we have travelled is nothing compared with how far we can go. It's time to set our sights higher still, with five goals for a fifth term.

1) to keep the nation strong, secure and united, engaged in the world and at ease with itself;

2) to build a new era of growth, prosperity and opportunity here at home;

3) to embrace a sense of aspirational nationalism to guide relations between different levels of government in Australia;

4) to ensure a rising tide of prosperity lifts all boats, with every child getting a solid start in life; and

5) to get the balance right on the big challenges around climate change, energy security and water scarcity.

Australia is the best country in the world. I'm in no doubt that its best years are yet to come. The choice you face at the election will be the most significant for a generation. Only the Coalition team has the plans, experience, determination and commitment to continue doing what's right for Australia.

Thank you for all your hard work during your 33 years in Federal Parliament.

You have truly been an inspirational leader, and one that has personally made me proud to be an Aussie.

Best wishes to you and your family for your future.

Take care.

Warm Regards

Kyles.

i am so looking forward until i turn eighteen next year because i will finally get an input into how our country is run. Th labour government will send Australia into another massive debt that this generation will have to be paying off in the many years to come. in my opinionm Mr Rudd has absolutely no idea in how to run a country, he has given no clear description of what he will actually do if he were to be elected, and the stuff that he has promised are either farfetched and impossible, or that they have extra strings tied to them for example the broadband issue, its not as if he is going to buy every single student in australia a laptop with broadband internet on it,especially those in rural areas, where it would more likely be one computer to evry thirty or so students. as the oppostion leader he is supposed to be trying to make our country better, but his five point plan is not going to help us much when we are millions of dollars in debt because of him having to owe the union bosses a lot for that whole deal.it really does get me worked up that some people are actually doubting your capability as our prime mnister, you have done an excellent job the past years, and australia has totally paid off its debt, which will mean nothing if rudd gets in because we will have to do it all again.

good luck, and you have my whole families vote, and mine if i could

peace em x.

my biggest fear is that labour ruins the strong economic foundations you guys have been building through blatantly stupid spending...sending inflation sky high, then over compensating, and throwing us into a recession....because it would happen right as i got out of uni...leaving me jobless...

youve got my vote johnny

Im also getting REALLY sick of these labor adds baging out the 'evil IR laws that strip people of rights'

everyone i know, and everyone they know has actually been better off with workchoices, because theyre good workers and theyre business wants too keep them...

and then theres that 'HUGE' *cough* increase in interest rates. I commend you and peter on your excellent economic planning to keep such a minor increase in interest rates

love u johnny

SA LABOR MISMANAGE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The Rann Government has used its numbers to gag debate on the multi-million dollar tram line mistake that will see 20 km of line ripped up and replaced.

Labor’s members of the Public Works Committee voted down a move by Liberal MPs David Pisoni and Michael Pengilly to re-open investigations into the Upgrade of Glenelg Tramway Infrastructure.

“Since that report was done and the project completed, we now find that it had major flaws,” Mr Pisoni said.

“The Public Works Committee needs to be investigating how and why the Department of Transport made so many errors in the $24 million upgrade of the Glenelg tram line,” he said.

“Twenty kilometres of track was re-used to save money, but now we discover that it has to be ripped up and replaced.

“The Department’s misguided attempt to save $2 million will now cost it much more than that. We need to find out how much more and why this mistake was not foreseen.”

Committee member Michael Pengilly said the secrecy surrounding the bungled project was unacceptable.

“How much has this mistake cost the taxpayer? The Minister won’t say and now the committee has shut down any chance of a proper investigation.

“It’s a cover-up.”

The Howard Government was the first Government in about 20 odd years to stop cutting back on funding for Mental Disabilities/Mental Illnesses and they have put more $$$ back into the system to help assist people.

oh please pull one out of the bag this week Mr Howard. I love my lifestyle now and don't want to lose it to Kevin and Julia. For God's sake how can Australia vote for a man who went to a brothel and has ministers who openly say they will change when in Government. Oh please please retain government Mr Howard.

Hey Johnny!
Good luck this election. The coalition has my vote! You are the right leadership for Australia. If Aussie's can't see that, we may need to fund optometry better because they're blind!
We can't afford the risk of a Labor government. Debt is shit and that's what we'd be in for!

Thanks for accepting, love your work. BTW thanks for coming to my school CBC St. Kilda. I have a question, seeing as you have the best treasurer going around you could work this out. If Kevin Dud lived up to all his election promises within the time frame he lays down as well as provides the necessary funds to the public domain, will the budget be in surplus or deficit? Thanks
