Embraced by the Light
and any other book about near death experiences,

The Art of Sensitive Parenting by Katherine Kershey.
nonfiction!
When I was reading about the life of Frida Kahlo in college for my Spanish classes, I thought "Wow, you could make this into a hollywood movie and you wouldn't need to exaggerate anything. This woman's life is fascinating!" And when Selma Hayack made the movie it was word for word from the books that I had read.
Heroes
Phil Donahue. This man changed the world by making it OK for people to tell their deepest darkest secrets in public, allowing all us us to breathe a sigh of relief knowing we are not the only ones. He got our country talking about things that were once unspeakable.
"Feel the fear and do it anyway"
Jimmy Cho
The Dixie Chicks
For not backing down
Howard Zinn, Jesus, John Lennin, Buddah, Gahndi, Dr. Wayne Dyer
In Buddhist texts, consciousness is said to be a field, a plot of land
in which every kind of seed has been planted, seeds of suffering,
happiness, joy, sorrow, fear, anger, and hope. The quality of our life
depends on which of these seeds we water. The practice of mindfulness is
to recongnize each seed as it sprouts, and to water the most wholesome
seeds whenever possible. ~Thich Nhat Hanh
Artistic influences include: Frank Gehry, Keith Harring, Beatriz Milhazes, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Louis Kahn, Wassily Kandinsky, Renee Magrite, Peter Max, Isaach Mizrahi, David Hockney, my mom's bright colors, my dad's cool doodles, and the Mexican culture which surrounds me here in Southern California. I am also influenced by modern technologies like the internet and Photoshop.
I like skyscrapers, rollerskates, sci-fi, and dance music.
I preferr abstract over photorealism because I thik abstract allows for more creativity.
I'm not a strait from the tube painter. Color is everything. I could never use someone else's color so I have to mix my own. I guess if I could sew I would have to make all my own clothes too. In I was an interior designer I'd have to design all my own wallpaper patterns. I fI was a fashion designer i would have to design all of my own fabrics.
I preferr to use a square canvas intead of a rectangular canvas becuase when it comes to making reproductions the proportions of a square alway remain constant. Have you ever noticed that a 4x6 phot does not have the same proportions as a 5x7, an 8x10, an 11x14 and so on as far as standard frame sizes go. This means at some point you have to either crop your image or give it odd borders on two or four sides. A square image can fit any square frame without worrying about porportions, cropping or weird borders.

"I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong."
~~ John Lennon
~All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is
violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. -- Arthur

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
Mark Twain

It's what we know for sure
that just ain't so."
- Mark Twain
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.
- Carl Jung
The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
~Carl Jung
If music be the food of love, play on.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.
-Benjamin Franklin
Great minds disscuss ideas.
Average minds discuss events.
Small minds discuss people.
- Eleanor Roosevelt
Thge reasonable man adapts himself to the world; The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

The synchronic vibration between object and metaphor is the magical part of beauty that my artwork seeks out. My idea is that all objects, be they old containers, art works, art supplies, tree roots, or concepts themselves, continually vibrate frequencies of meaning in a continuum of metaphorical…
