Douglas Adams is a very bad author, but I have a weakness for his books. Noam Chomsky is an incredibly talented writer, although I frequently disagree with his reasoning. I have a subscription to the Atlantic Monthly, which I enjoy very much.
I don't understand why people are so down on Douglas Coupland. I'm in the middle of his newest book, jPod. It may be totally pretentious and self-serving, but I don't give a shit because it's a LOT of fun to read. |

About me:
I am a graduate student in Biomedical engineering at the University of Calgary. This degree is proving to be a lot more difficult than I anticipated. I listen to a lot of music. In social situations, I have a tendency to offend people profoundly, but I had never been punched in the face until very recently.
I am into debate in a big way and this March, the UN and DFAIT flew me to Ottawa to chair a Model UN committee at CANIMUN. Isn't that hilarious and sad? Children are starving, peacekeeping missions are floundering and I'm flying to the icy Canadian capital for an uber-nerdy debate competition.
