Pneumyä (pronounced; new - me - ya) was formed in Dover, DE in the winter of 2001. Since that time, the band has been focused on writing original music that is an extension of each member's styles and influences. This makes for an interesting mix considering the huge range of influences of the individual members. Each member brings forth devotion to the band's music and to each other as a cohesive musical force that really defines who Pneumyä is as a band and the sound of the music they create.
Pneumyä's sound is a combination of crunchy yet dynamic guitar progressions, melodic vibrato-like vocals, and a powerful rhythm section. Somewhere in the gray area between Tools Undertow and Janes Addictions Nothings Shocking is where Pneumyä's music lies. Layer emotional and deeply personal lyrics into the mix and its undeniable that Pneumyä's sound is genuinely unique.
Looking forward, Pneumyä will continue to push ahead to create music that is reflective of both the band's personality and that of its members. Jim Cara plus Jessica Dangelo from Control Freaks have put together a deadly house band, that pushes traditional blues to the edge, as hard as far as it can go without falling off. Throw together Jonny Lang, Govt. Mule, Joe Bonamassa, Thin Lizzy and Zackk, while still getting acclaim from many veteran Jazz and traditional die-hard historic fans is what they do like nobody's business.
As Jim will say, he's been looking for the right guy to pull this off for 20 years and found it in Jessica.
