UNREQUITED LOVE
fter having spun multiple webs of friendships, Poanna officially formed in 2008 and joined together five guys that share common pasts as well as common goals for what the future may hold. This Southern Pop Rock band combines insightful and catchy lyrics with folky music that reminds you of what your southern parents used to listen to. Of course, the modern edge makes the music enjoyable for the kids of those southern parents.
Based in Columbus, Poanna derived its name from a type of grass that thrives in the winter and dies in the spring. Surrounded by deadness all winter, it’s the only pretty green plant you’ll see, and it brings hope of life in the midst of dreary times. Alike, Poanna originates their songs from the inspirations of life, truth, God, friendship and community, and girls. All of which stir feelings of life and growth and understanding.
All five members of Poanna have crossed multiple paths while serving their churches, doing mission trips, and meeting through mutual friends. Since forming, the band has recorded an eight song, self-titled EP and is in the process of recording another album. Their musical inspirations range from legendary musicians such as Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles to current day bands like Wilco, The Counting Crows, and even Beyonce. If you’re looking for Nickelback or Celine Dion inspired music, look elsewhere. However, take your time to listen if you enjoy being reminded of riding in your car, experiences from growing up, front porches, really noisy summer nights, and waffle house.
For booking information, e-mail the band at booking@poannamusic.com.
There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.

it's been hell trying to book shows here in Baton Rouge...I'm playing a lot of house shows these days and I'm really liking it. I want to make good on my word to visit you guys. If we could work on gigging something up at a venue that cuts the distance between us in half, I'd be all over that. I could take a weekend off.
Tell Luke I miss his ass...I'll bet $10 he says, "whatever". Wish I could be there.
