Poco Loco are an open access community band first formed in 2000. Our remit is to bring Samba music to the people in the area, and anyone who is interested can come down to our rehearsals and play. Members have a broad range of experience from complete beginners to seasoned players. You don't need to have any musical experience, or an instrument (we supply all these), but it helps to have enthusiasm ... and a sense of rhythm .................................................................................................................
Samba music is Afro/Brazilian carnival music made with a wide variety of drums, from the big surdos the size of dustbins to hand held Ganza shakers. It is loud, funky and infectious, and is great for street celebrations, of which we play a good number every year across the Northwest.
We are led by pStan Batcow, a tireless and good humoured local pro musician who teaches on a weekly basis. We also get tuition from Leon Patel, a Manchester based musician who regularly travels to Sao Paolo to learn new trends in Samba.
We meet every Wednesday 7-9pm for practices at The First Step Community Centre Dickson Rd. (opposite the Duke of York pub)...use the Claremont Cafe entrance. First session is free, after that, a paltry £3 (£1.50 children / unwaged). What are you waiting for...come down next wednesday and play!

before 9:30 is normally the easiest slot to grab, as few people have the courage to get up before they've sunk a few first! In fact things don't noirmally start to gather steam properly until about 10 or so.
Jam night works on a first-come-first-served basis, really, so if you turn up early (8:30ish) then I'm sure Wol can sort out getting you up sharpish after 9.
Hello. For your kind attention. Let's hope you can attend! Can you spread the word or forward this email?

Cheers muchly for the add. I don't think I'd have made it round Fleetwood carival on saturday if it wasn't for the beating of your drums... (i was the one dressed as Noah's son btw and I'm still trying to figure out a way of getting to Blackpool every wednesday). Can I just ask, is pStan the same blokey that used to have something to do with the vinyl drip club years ago? The face was very familiar and it was bugging me all day! (not that pStan's face was bugging me, just the fact i couldn't remember where I'd seen it before).
