About me: WHO WE ARE:
We are a partnership of like-minded people with a desire to create great special effects while at the same time learning from each other and gaining FX experience through doing. Podunkville was created as a way to not only learn from other members, but to have fun doing something that we love to do, while at the same time, promoting independent film in Ohio and creating quality productions to draw attention to our little neck of the woods.
Podunkville FX was founded by Ken Moss and Daniel Davis shortly after signing on to help with Book of the Dead: Necromancer. We are all learning much from our experiences, including movie production and direction and will eventually produce our own screenplays. At the moment Podunkville FX is small, but we're growing with each shoot. Keep an eye on us, folks.
WHAT WE DO: Our main focus is on creating special effects for horror productions, but we're quickly branching out into production, promotion and direction as well. We're learning as we go and we're extremely confident in our abilities to learn and grow as a special effects company and fully expect to eventually branch out into other genres. We assist in movie production as well as pushing the envelope of low budget independent film to create the best effects we can. We have fun with what we do, both on and off set, but we also take pride in our work.
Currently we are working with Shane Michaels and Blood and Guts Production on the independent horror film, Prey to God.
WHAT'S IN A NAME: The meaning behind the name is clear. We don’t come from some big-time movie locale like New York City or Hollywood, California. We started small in “Podunkville,” Ohio. No matter where we go and no matter how good or popular we become the name reminds us of where we came from and with its whimsical title and “inside-joke-like motto, it reminds us why we began this ride; for the fun of making movies and special effects and getting other little known locales noticed.
Who I'd like to meet: Other people who wish to learn special effects through hands-on experience, movie producers, potential investors, actors and actresses that don't mind our brand of crazy, and anyone who likes to have fun making movies.
I've always wondered how ghouls spend Thanksgiving. I guess I have my answer now. It could be the workings for an interesting short story or poem. Maybe I'll try to write it after I finish my home improvement project tomorrow.
That's good to hear. I hope the same is true for Daniel and Jayne. Luckily Daniel slept off most of his before leaving. Jayne, however, was looking a little rough by the time they left. Jay and I, the troopers we are, watched it all transpire and were the last two soldiers in the fray.
