Jazz pushed to the realm of indie rock; the strange calm intrinsic to a thunderstorm; the joy of those jhanic states that take courage to perceive.
Many people have asked me what exactly Poésis means. To be totally honest, I think I'm still learning this myself. Originally, I would have answered that, the term "Poésis," actually comes from a couple of French Quantum Physicists who, in the early 20th Century, found that Quantum particles tended to disappear and reappear in the space/time contimuum if an observer quit observing the particle itself. They also found that, the presence of an observer made the particle stay quite focused and still. Thus, the scientists deduced a sort of logic of self manifestation to the universe that is, and they termed this power "auto-poésis," or 'self-manifestation.' That said, the band and the music that comprises Poésis has been, in our case, subject to a lot of change. Perhaps it means that we have lacked the focus to hold the original band together, or in turn, that we have continually specified in the last year, exactly what that sound is, and who must play it. In any case, the remaining members of Poésis have undergone a rather enormous cataclysm of focus. With every note, David Cannava moves closer to his own unique style. His rhythms continue to inspire and engage me in a rather humbling way. Charlie Milo, now a card holding member of Poésis, is in my opinion, the reincarnation of Leonardo Da Vinci, or someone similar, as his creativity never fails to amaze me. And I, Jonathan, have never felt as challenged and honored to work with a band as I do today. The music that comes out of our humble rehearsal space these days is innovative, vibing, eclectic and above all else, fun. Please feel free to comment on our page or email us with your thoughts and insights, and thanks for listening!
