Poetry Slam, Inc. is the official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization charged with overseeing the international coalition of poetry slams. Though slams are maintained in a growing number of cities by local volunteer organizers, the vast majority of slam series follow the rules established by the governing body, and are certified by the governing body as slams that adhere to the vision slam's founders established for the art form over a decade ago. Because of slam's exponential growth as an art form, PSI has emerged not only as an administrative body to maintain the rules which govern slam, but as an organization that seeks to grow slam's audience and protect slam's interests. The Executive Council, headed by a seven-member Executive Council comprised of poets and slam organizers, and voted on by representatives of local slams, maintains a vigilant watch of poetry slam series worldwide, insuring that slam maintains itself as an art form open to all competitors. Through the certification process and its annual organizational meetings, PSI has created the backbone for a community of poets who are in frequent communication with one another, in order to pool ideas and share creative resources to insure the future growth and recognition of slam. Poets from the community frequently embark on poetry tours in other slam cities, relying on each other to set up the venues and housing necessary for such tours.
While PSI's main focus in past years has been the maintenance and growth of the National Poetry Slam, the organization is embarking on a series of programs and actions that seek to increase the public awareness of slams. These projects include the maintenance of an official website, an agreement with television producers seeking to stage slams for a major cable television network, and the formation of regional competitions, which would place officially-sanctioned team competitions in a number of host cities each year and concentrate the high level of talent present at the annual Nationals.

I expect most of you to finish this post and do nothing. But for some of you, for those of you who remember me, remember my spirit. You will see what I am asking for and know that this is a special moment for me and reach out to help.
For those of you who I have lost touch with, i am currently volunteering at a conference center in western Massachusetts.
For anyone who knows me, you know that I love to write. You know that it started at the Bridge Cafe performing spoken word and that I have made many life changes to pursue my dream of becoming a novel writer.
On February 24th, I am leaving on a pilgrimage to Peru. I have very little money and could use the support of the people who believe in me.
Even if it is $1(or $5, or $10 or more if you feel inspired). Every last bit will help.
Perhaps this is a stretch, but I believe that I have to ask for help in order to get it.
If you feel so inclined, ask your friends.
Tell them you know a soul, who is trying to pursue its dream.
My address is:
Jonathan Tremblay c/o Rowe Camp and Conference Center PO Box 273 Rowe, MA 01367

For those of you who donate, you will receive a copy of my travel journal upon my return.
For anyone willing to help in other ways, please message me.

hold me accountable those that came before me, started this story showing me how to grow disappointed, with most of the appointed i branched off, to stand tall saluting the heavens, "your son's a man ma." three decades & some change is nothing, compared to grandma still, change is contagious & here i am center-stage, with thoughts of grandeur my new president paves the way & sets the standard before him? sadly, a bad daddy, athletes some rap legends… why expand more pardon my candor my generation, have we been misguided? without hesitation, saying no means we'd be lying we've never been lead, so, yeah, more than likely still, all my wrongs, i've righted, Psalms recited; nightly whenever led astray, folded fingers in my palms tightly; fighting putting angel wings upon my poems; writing saying things you don't hear in songs; trying to heal these scars, & unfold these arms, to steer this car away from where, all these mirrors are to face the world, or at least my fears; finding a clearer star overwhelmed, i'm scared, with pride & anxiety saying bye to the angry black guy, inside of me; dying in me tossing my stone in, to make ripples in the river too having one of them moments, that's bigger than pivotal although life's been my opponent, finally it feels livable.
