If you're in the mood for something a bit racier, you might like my new book, "Pillow Talk", an exploration of the human comedy in sixty-nine erotic haiku, with gestural drawings in graphite by noted artist Gabrielle Senza. Pillow Talk is available through gspotpress. com

    Dear Fire Starters,
Real nice to meet you !

Paths cross and bridges grow, no doubt,
Meanwhile, you might want to know what
    This Slamophone trip is about.

It all started with the idea
    Poetry's too live, too diverse,
    each syllable - unsellable,
    every ephemerical verse
being too fierce to be coerced
Speech is the one right we have left
    Tongue slamming, spinning,
    tables turning,
and France cannot be left for deaf.

So with a camera in hand,
we've taken the country by storm
    videalistic is the spirit,
    originality the norm.
We started out with 50 vids,
now we are up to 360,
    from Montreal down to Marseille,
    from Pointe-à-Pitre to Gai Paree.

Take any door and come on in.
Be curious, you will be served :
    360 clips around our way,
360 clicks around the word …

    Come On In

About me:

The Worcester Poets' Asylum was founded by Bill MacMillan and Lea Deschenes in late 1990 as an offshoot of the Works in Progress/Open Stage at the Worcester Artists group. It came into its own as a weekly reading series in February of 1991, shortly after the first poetry slam in the city was held, and has continued into the present over seventeen years and various venues to become known as one of the premiere performance poetry venues in the New England area.

The Poets' Asylum has always maintained a mix of open mic readings, featured poets, and poetry slams. The series is open to all poets and writers, all ability levels, all styles, all ages, with no constraints on content or language. The reading is one of a few in the city which has never asked for a cover charge, paying its featured poets through the fundraising efforts of its dedicated readership and the generosity of its audience and open mic-ers.

The Poets' Asylum meets at Jumpin' Juice and Java, 335 Chandler Street in Worcester starting Auust 17th. The reading meets on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. For more information, catch us on the web at www.poetsasylum.org. Or better yet, just stop in.

Who I'd like to meet:

Poets, writers and lovers of poetry, wherever they may be.
