Well, I must say: I keep being surprised ... All artists (performers and bands) are very good - as wel concerning their music, as their lyrics, lyrics like poetry, as most poetry could be lyrics ...
As far as to venues, there are allready a few, actualy quite an amount. Add the venues of the group 'Don't let the best pass you by' - who are not only open to music but also for different occasions and performances - the result is good.
The organisations and poets/performers of poetry, jam, def poetry, spoken word, ....
European initiatives are present, poetry is recited.
Recited poetry from America, hardly organised till now.
A developed mainly non-caucasian stand up poets with a lot of shows, organised, intertwined and networked (not everybody, but the difference is quite clear with the mentioned initiatives). Besides spoken poetry, these artists will also use there writings in Hip Hop, Rn'B, Soul and Slam.
What I would like to see and further develop is the coöperation and exchange of ideas, poets and performances of Spoken Word and Poetry ... And I am very glad this is the case as it is the purpose of this profile, besides of course other great opportunities. The profile expanded enormously so for coöperation and networking - besides this profile - I would like to encourage everyone to join the group as a lot of opportunities also situate themselves there! As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
