"Ball Four" by Jim Bouton, "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung" by Lester Bangs (my biggest influence/inspiration in my writing), "Commodify Your Dissent" by Thomas Frank, music reference guides (the perfect bathroom reading!). I could lie and say I read lots of Chomsky and Zinn but, while I basically agree with their ideas, I find my attention wandering when I read them... so it's mainly books about music and sports

You definitely have a Boston accent, even if you think you don't. Of course, that doesn't mean you are from the Boston area, you may also be from New Hampshire or Maine.

Music/record geek. Sox, Pats, Celtics fan. Lover of Chinese food and BBQ. Left of center politically--some might say far left and that's fine with me.

I've been the publisher of Suburban Voice (originally Suburban Punk) since 1982, although the print version has been on hiatus since 2003 and I don't know when it'll return. In the meantime check out the SV blog. I'm also a columnist for Maximum Rock 'n Roll and host an on-line radio show Sonic Overload that is updated each Monday.

Finally, I share my life with my wonderful wife Ellen, who is a social worker and that's a lot more impressive than anything I do. We've been married since 1988 and she puts up with way more from me than she should.

Who I'd like to meet:

PAY ATTENTION... ONE MORE FUCKING TIME... I'll only add you if I already know you or if you send me a message along with the add request. Really, that's all it takes and I'll probably add you unless you're racist, sexist, homophobic or a flag-waving pay-tree-ot.

Also, I love getting comments... especially like this one:

... but please don't abuse that space with too many big ads or flyers. They'll be deleted immediately and you'll get a Stephen Colbert "Wag of the Finger"

That being said... welcome!

REGARDING MY CALENDAR: These are shows I'll likely be attending but may not for one reason or another... and if I have them listed here, you can be assured they'll be worth going to.
