Press Release Event: Carnival Village Arts and Culture Symposium Date: Wednesday 13th February 2008 1:00pm – 9:00pm Place: Carnival Village @ the Tab Powis Square Elgin Crescent W11 2AY Are you an artist, arts organisation, practitioner, carnivalists or someone interested in promoting arts and culture residing or working in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) or Westminster? Carnival Village is a new arts initiative in the promotion of Carnival Arts and its Creative Industries. The Carnival Village will be located at two sites in London: the Tabernacle Arts Centre W10 in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Yaa Asantewaa Arts Centre, Chippenham Mews W9 in Westminster. At the Tabernacle, Carnival Village will promote its arts and entertainment programme including education and outreach activities. At the Chippenham Mews emphasis will be on Education, Training and Community development. To achieve this, Carnival Village has a capital grant of £4.5m, which will afford it to refurbish the Chippenham Mews site and carry out some decorative work at the Tabernacle. These two venues will provide both boroughs with a space for increased opportunities in arts and culture development with emphasis on developing the Carnival creative industries toward economic benefits for the individual, organizations and the local community We are keen on engaging with all those who are developing arts and culture and is interested in promoting their work within these two venues.
