    In an over saturated market it's hard to find bands that stand out from the good and the great, but that's exactly what Polarity does. They keep fans coming back show after show and in the two and a half years they've been together they've recorded an album, played over fifty shows and are quickly sinking their roots into Toronto and creating a scene of their own. The five that compose of Polarity formed in the beginning of 2008 out of a Mississauga basement. Three of the now five members, Michael Sitana, guitarist, Jason Swait , guitarist, and Mike Smith bassist, placed an ad on craigslist for a singer and Jasmine, vocalist, answered. The song "Shadow" emerged out of Jasmine's audition and there was no looking back. Fast forward a year and they were in various studios recording their debut self titled album while getting used to the stage playing their first shows. As with any other bands they experienced bumps along the way losing a drummer and being in a year of auditions which has only made them stronger having found their fifth member in Eric Zimmerman who now completes the group of five. Their name is as much a reflection of a universal truth, as is a reflection of their sound as they seamlessly blend together the five members' various styles and influences. Michael and Jason compliment each other beautifully with their back and forth attack of distortion and melody while Mike and Eric keep the rhythm flowing with dirty beats and hard breakdowns. Jasmine's voice adds a unique sound with lyrics that can be described as a catalyst of personal and societal observation. Polarity is the epitome of an 'Indie' band with all of them working to support the band's expenses having no financial backing but their own. Outside of writing their music they book their own shows and recently finished their tour out East. Chances are you'll catch them promoting around Toronto or working on their website which is also done internally.
