   About Poler Bear

Bradley and Shawnathan met when they were six. They discovered they were long-lost cousins. When Bradley got tired of roller-hockey and Shawnathan got tired of building plastic models, they decided to play music together.

One day they recorded a song called Indian Bing. Then the next year they decided to make an album in Shawnathan's studio. It is called Poler's Recess. (Their good friend, Jared Falk, took care of all the drumming on the album) Now Bradley and Shawnathan call themself Poler Bear.

More history on the word 'Poler' and on the 'Poler's Recess' can be found here.

Here's a swedish artist - Salem Al Fakir, thought you might like him. The first song Astronaut sounds a little like your music.

I have decided that your music sounds like a really good dream... like the kind that is so magical you wake up disappointed that it's not real.

Hahahaha. Yes, the clientele. What will I do now that my aura is ruined?!! Tragedy! I don't think the footnotes are necessarily a cop-out, they probably thought it was helpful... but the footnotes paired with the gigantic pictures and different colored paper make for a roller-coaster ride with my eyes and my attention span seems to be getting shorter with every page. It's like reading a high school textbook. Yes, I would prefer them to just jam the footnotes into the page... I don't care if it's cohesive and I don't care if it's not stretching anyone's creative imagination.
becca had (or probably has) a coat that smelled like cat piss which she hung on the corner of our bed in Cape Town. I had the top bunk and I was convinced that my mattress was soaked in cat excrement or something but then one day the coat fell and when I picked it up, cat piss scent filled my nose... and then I knew. So I switched sides of the bed and everything was fine. But she freakin' LOVES her cat pee coat. Beware. You might want to take some febreeze or a couple car air-fresheners next time you see her. You could jam the little pine trees in the pockets and spray it down while she's in the bathroom.
It's fool-proof!!!

Yea, when I first got it I was so thrilled but the novelty has worn off and I got ensnared by all the notes at the bottom of the pages...but I will press on! And yes, I got your P.S. and Chris, it's a postcard... how could you not read it? Should I tape a blindfold to it? I don't have secrets and I wouldn't send it if I was trying to hide some embarassing thing between becca and myself. You already know about the cat piss coat, I'm sure. There's nothing that gets any worse than that smell.

I'm trying to finish "Jesus for President" but it's causing me to have severe bouts of A.D.D.

Hey, do you have becca's mailing address? And also, what are YOU reading, Mr.
De Souza?

Hey Chris! I'm doing well... going to Colorado to visit a friend from college over the 4th. I have a friend planning on attending Hillsong College in Sydney. Maybe we could rendezvous next July. I guess that's a ways away, but anyhow.

What's your favorite mic for recording?

Glad you got to see becca, and got to experience a bit of 120 Wright Street greatness. Did you feel it was worth the walk? Hope you guys had a lot of fun, and imagined me there for at least one of your picnics.

Yes, please read Traveling Mercies or any of her books and then please report back and tell me what you think. I've never actually heard of a guy who likes Anne Lammott. I recently found Anne Lammott paraphernalia on Amazon... with screenprinted t-shirts that say Anne Lammott hearts me. Oh it's all so wonderful. If you do end up loving her, I'll make you a puff paint t-shirt.

May 29 2008 3:22 AM

Yes, Chris. becca did tell me that I was apart of the e-mail that birthed the friendboyness of you. That was actually Dolorean lyrics on my page. They are from Portland as well as Powell's. I went there a couple years ago and fell in book love. It's a mesmerizing place. Since you'll see becca before me... give her a hug while you're crouched down on your knees and say it's from me (I'm short, it will make it more MBsized).
