I'm influenced and inspired by so many kinds of music
(and so many artists), that it's hard to list. Here's a sampling;
Women(they tend to inspire the most new music out of me), Keith Jarrett, Wu-Tang Clan, James Taylor, Alexander Scriabin, Zero 7, Herbie Hancock, Dream Theater, Karol Szymanowski, Bone Thugs n Harmony, John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado.
DAN POLICAR, a native of Seattle, has made an impressively quick name for himself in New York City as a writer and performing keyboardist. An avid composer and producer he draws on a variety of influences from classical to hip-hop, jazz to rock. Policar’s talents have been tapped by a number of New York based artists as a writer and producer.
His first gigs in New York came from world-class bassist Bakithi Kumalo (bass solo for Paul Simon's Y”ou Can Call Me Al') and legendary R&B singer Freddie Scott (chart-topping hits “Hey Girl” and “You Got What I Need”). He has toured extensively throughout the United States and overseas. Recently, he completed a cross-country United States tour with Rock/Drum’n’Bass band Speed of Life. He was chosen as pianist for a US tour with the legendary Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 2008.
Currently he is writing and producing for Emergency Service, Mark Shine – Rocsta Society, and Inna Vibe. Policar is widely recognized for his ability to sculpt the sound of the bands he performs with.
Recently he has teamed up with Mark Shine – Rocsta Society. The team's ability and productivity to create great music is unrivaled. Policar and Shine are two fresh emerging voices that captivate their audiences with catchy hooks and stellar musicianship.
