About me:

On Friday March 13th, 2009 the Museo Alameda del Smithsonian presents to you Polifónico: Music as Art, the second installation of an innovative DJ series featuring Gary Garay. This event explores the intrinsic relationship between art and music, ultimately utilizing music as a way to expand the field of art.

Featuring Ganas from Mas Exitos, Polifónico blends, appropriates, redefines, recontextualizes, and merges diverse components of sound to compose an audioscape of different musical terrains and polyphonic geographies.

The series is presented in conjunction with the first time ever opening of two exhibitions of "Phantom Sightings: Art after the Chicano Movement", and "Caras Vemos, Corazones No Sabemos: The Human Landscape of Mexican Migration" at The Museo Alameda. Turning tables on the past, Polifónico incorporates classic Latino rhythms mixed with modern electronic beats. Please join us on Friday March 13th this exciting lineup of events!

Polifónico: Music as Art closing party begins at 9PM and lasts until 12 AM. March 13th, 2009.
