About me:

Political Affairs is an online magazine of ideology, politics and culture. Our mission is to go beyond simply giving an account of events to providing analysis and investigating what is new and changing in our world -- from a working-class point of view.

In the pages of PA we start from the most basic fact of life: the ongoing struggle between the working class and the capitalist class. This conflict happens in the workplace, in the government, the courts, on the streets, but also in the realm of ideas. We publish stories on the struggle to defeat George W. Bush and his gang of far-right thugs, the labor movement, the battle for racial justice, the end to war and imperialism, women's equality, the fight against homophobia, and working-class views of popular culture and mass media.

While we are partisan, Marxism is not the private property of any person or group. We print a wide variety of views in our quest for truth. Discussion and debate are the only ways to develop better and more useful ideas to defeat the far right, strengthen working people, and build democracy. Political Affairs is a publication of the Communist Party, USA.

Hi there! A little about us: our name translates to "the leftist zine" (or site, or whatever - has several meanings in RO); we do leftist actions and we live in a leftist manner day by day; PA was a source of inspiration for us and we are glad to be a friend of PA here. The left - for a better, bigger world!

FTM Book Vol. 1 = OUT NOW!!!!!

    About FTM Book Vol. 1
FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:

    What is an FTM?
    How do FTMs see themselves?
    Appearance
    Stages in Transition
    Surgeries Available
    Common Personal Histories
    Violence
    Discrimination
    Health Issues
    Counseling
    Relationships
    Common Legal Issues

We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.

Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.

    Get your copy here: http://www.cafepress.com/muskegon115

FTM Book Vol. 2 is also in the works (more focus on relationship issues etc), as well as a few other things to be announced...

I look out my White House window and see only a green and tranquil country. One in which the stock market has gone up for four days in a row. A country that is benefiting from me doing nothing rash to bailout the economy. Proof my continuing to follow my divine sort of free markets plan has preserved the Bush economic miracle. God bless me and God bless all of prosperous America, the nation the Vice President and I have created for our Republican posterity. Happy Thanksgiving to you all America.

    Spare me a dime

    Bare faced no nonsense thievery
    Going on under you nose
A trillion dollars just to bail out the rich
It’s gonna dig you deeper into your hole

The pretence of concern on their faces
Turns to smiles behind the closed door
They’ve just taken away your future
Ad you won’t see that anymore

You just paid to decimate the poor
You just sanctioned their next phase of war
It was the only excuse they needed
Your last piece of self respect conceded

Hey there buddy can you spare me a dime
Can you offer some compassion to me?
This dust bowl is choking my thought
I used to think this was the land of the free
How the hell did it come to this?
Being slaves to money power and greed
How did corporate killers and thieves
Become the single self dominant creed

You just paid to decimate the poor
You just sanctioned their next phase of war
It was the only excuse they needed
Your last chance to get off your knees conceded

So keep your love ones close
And you debts to a minimum
And God help the old folk
Cos they’re rewriting the rule book
    Making new contingencies
    Of acceptable losses
    From future power obscenities

Hey buddy can you spare me a dim

Latest review for DIVERTING THE BUDDHA (The Skewering of Democracy)

"DIVERTING THE BUDDHA is an ambitious novel that delivers through a vivid portrayal of the treachery and deceit that emerged during the catastrophic Vietnam War. Bob Swartzel wastes little time in immersing his readers in a chaotic world where poor innocent people are caught between a corrupt Vietnamese leadership, as well as the self-interest of a few profiteers and an American foreign policy gone amok. Among the many achievements of this novel is Swartzel’s ability to provide his readers with a realistic sense of the historical setting the characters inhabit. It also vividly captures the chaotic theater of war where we witness a gritty epoch of guns, politics, treachery and economic self-interest.

No doubt there are many novels pertaining to the Vietnam War, however, this one stands out as an unforgettable tale at its most emotional and painful with its multiple perspectives pertaining to the politics and history recounted in human terms.” Norm Goldman, B.A. LL.L, Publisher & Editor of Bookpleasures. com

The difference between old John McCain and me is he was always a protected class fighter pilot. He crashed three planes in ways that would of got any other Navy pilot court-martialed and thrown out of the service three times over, any pilot who didn't have a father who was an active duty four-star admiral that is. John's military records, the ones my Administration locked down real good, tell a tale about a spoiled service brat who never really learned the fine art of being a career officer. I was also Vietnam era, but I had to learn because I did not have high up family in the military to bail me out. John McCain, because the Navy brass always excused his many peccadilloes, will never be the political street fighter or President I am. That is what is wrong with his whole campaign.
