Pollen DJs are Derek C, Quality Tom, and Jonny Loves House.
Derek C believes that if music is the healing force of the past, the present and the future, then House is a creamy balm for your soul. His blend of this medicated unguent typically folds in deep funky soulful latin and jazz flavours, with solos rising above. Essentially woody not tinny sounds. Probably best applied in the morning.
Quality Tom was first properly introduced to funk in about '91, by Derek C and his lovely partner Polly, but didn't start mixing tunes until 2000. Expect chunky, fat bass lines; soulful melodies; and rolling, funky grooves; with the occasional latin twist.
A veteran of the U.K. festival circuit, Tom has played at most of the U.K.'s top events, notably Glastonbury, the Big Chill, Bestival, Lovebox, Glade etc... as well as at free parties the length and breadth of the country.
Last summer, Tom played at a dozen festivals alongside DJs from DIY, Smokescreen, Deep Cartel, and House Distillery.
For a sample of Tom's style, check the edit from his recent mix 'Funk Out', on the player.
As well as house, Tom has a large repertoire of other music styles he plays out, including dub, ska, soul, funk, disco, jive and swing, klezmer, balkan and gypsy beats, and eclectic dance and rock music.
Jonny Loves House is a veteran of the Nottingham/Derby free party House scene. He plays wicked House tunes, right across the board, and also writes and performs his own material. But he can tell it better than we can. Check out his own site: www.myspace.com/jonnyloveshouse

Pollen is a dj collective playing deep, funky, underground House at festivals, parties, pubs and clubs in Brighton and up and down the U.K.
For the last 5 years, Pollen have been the resident djs of Eco-Arcadia, the world's first Biodiesel-powered pinball arcade, and are now resident at 'Come and Play'; appearing at festivals throughout the UK, notably Glastonbury, Glade, and Secret Garden Party.
In September '07 we took up residence at Brighton's Jazz Place, in Ship st, and had some lovely little parties, every other Thursday, with some great guest appearances from Mikkael, The Country Gents, and CJ; and a fab live performance from resident Jonny Loves House. From February '08, we secured the 1st Friday of the month, which has encouraged more people to come and check us out, and we've had some cracking good nights. We are continuing, of course, to expand our list of top guest djs for your listening and dancing pleasure. Check our upcoming gigs for details.
.. Homesick Recordings presents... HR003 "Stop by it EP By: Mikkael w/ remixes by Jonn Hawley, The Quirk Burglars, and Michael Day Out now on stompy!
We are very proud to showcase our next release. French producer Mikkael lays it down with a smooth, groovy, jazzy number. Chords that build a change through out the track, lays down a nice foundation for the sax samples. This track is great any time, day or night. Jonn
Hawley brings his blend of funky chunky beats and stabs to his remix. Great track for the heads around peak hour! Next, the Quirk Burglars twist up a funky stuttery version of the track. Lots of stutters and percussion changes through out the mix. Last but not least we have Michael Days stranger remix. This track is great for pumping things up and going into a different direction. Very chunky a fat percussion in this mix, smoothed over by some dreamy guitar samples. Hope yall dig!
This is Stumbleworthy’s first visit to the Korsan Bar. We’ll be bringing you an afternoon and evening of eclectic tunes from the record boxes of Dj TAB, Tendril, Shining Steve, Louiseplus1 and friends
