Polydypsia formed with it's original line-up in June of 2005 and has steadily taken big strides toward becoming something more than just your average band. The group plays mostly in Omaha and Lincoln Nebraska, but over the course of the last year they have expanded into playing festivals like Wakarusa and 10,000 Lakes and extensively touring the mid-west in between. The members of Polydypsia all come from varied backgrounds that blend well as they take the stage. The music is ever-changing and evolving as they explore uncharted ideas. These guys use their backgrounds in jazz, funk, and rock to create new and diverse soundscapes for their steadily growing and loyal fanbase. With influences like Frank Zappa, George Benson, Miles Davis, P-Funk, Ramsey Lewis, The Weather Report, and many more these guys surely quench the need for some soul shakin. The sounds that make up Polydypsia are Mind Melting Guitar, Jaw Droppin' Keys, Rippin Bass, Stirring Vocals, and a Percussion section that just won't quit. They have shared the stage with RAQ, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, The Station, Jah Roots, The Breakfast, My-Tea Kind, The Sugar-Free Allstars, The Helping Phriendly Band, Anchondo, Blue Turtle Seduction, Somasphere, The Balance, The Willie Waldman Project w/ Jim and Vinnie from moe., The Electric Soul Method and others... In addition to the 10,000 Lakes Festival, Wakarusa and Dogstock, Polydypsia puts on a festival of their own every year. Always held in November around thanksgiving, the title of the festival is "Thanksgrooving" and it is all to benefit the Omaha Food Bank! Polydypsia means "excessive thirst", come out soon quench yourself and get down. Until then, stay thirsty.
Greetings Polydypsia, The music that flows from your instruments overwhelms me with creativity. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. May you always have stables of horses to service your needs. Polished rock candy comes ever to mind when thinking of you. Your essence is equal to the beauty of a galaxy. How can I help but use your eyes as a means for self-asphyxiation? Your sweet voice is like the application of aloe vera upon a sunburnt back. The sand runes crossing your divided consciousness do speak of contemptuous monsters being slayed by flying phoenixes. What wonderful vibrations you are capable of. You are dressed with filaments and people take pains to make you fully incandescent this evening. Transistors bridge where your vanity would never go. Your tears evoke a taste as memorable as honey. In your presence even my shadow acquires the sensation of touch.
