I like all kinds of stuff - Tikis, Ukulelels, Old Surfing Memorabilia, Hawaiiana, Duke Kahanamoku, Polynesian Pop, Mid-Century Modern, Googie and just about ALL forms of Themed Architecture.
Wait -- there's more! Old Porsches, Vegas, Rat Pack, Kung-Fu Theatre, Elvis Presley, Bruce Lee, Comic Book Art, Useless Trivia, Turntablism and B-Boyin'.Music
I've been picking up my uke a lot lately influenced by two masters of the craft -- Jake Shimabukuro and Aldrine Guerrero. If I could play as good as a quarter of their talent I would die a happy man! YouTube their names and see what I'm talking about. I guarantee that you'll be blown away!
Other than the uke stuff, I also like a good mix of a wide range of music from Guns n' Roses to Public Enemy to Steel Pulse to Stevie Ray Vaughn and to yes even 70's disco! I grew up a child of the 80's so just about anything from funk to punk in the era is cool too - Freestyle, LA Dream Team, Soulsonic Force, Egyptian Lover... you know what I'm talkin' bout. And yes, 90's and beyond Alternative Rock & Grunge - Pearl Jam, Offspring, Pennywise, Suicidal Tendencies, Tool and Nine Inch Nails.... Reggae, Jawaiian and Hawaiian. Hapa Haole and Exotica. It just depends on my mood. Lately, I've been really digging on the Post War crooner stuff as well as 50's-60's lounge, Basso Nova and Brazilian. Anything from Etta James to Bebel Gilberto. And of course anything from the Rat Pack - Dino, Sammy and Sinatra. I also like the modern interpretations too from folks like Steve Terrell and Diana Krall. Some of my favorite albums include Common Sense – Live at the Belly Up, Sublime – 40 oz to Freedom, Steel Pulse - Smash Hits, Don Henley - End of Innocence, Bob Marley - Legend, Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill, Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle, Pennywise - Unknown Road, anything from Rage Against the Machine and the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Electric blues to Smooth Jazz, Brazilian, Basso Nova, Post War, Alternative & Classic Rock, Adult Contemporary, Hawaiian, Reggae, Exotica, Lounge, Funk to Punk .... I like 'em all. ..Movies
Television
I mostly like the cheesy, campy stuff from the 70's and 80's because its what I grew up watching - Knight Rider, The A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, MacGyver, Love Boat, Three's Company, Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Batman, The Price is Right and of course, CHiPs. Lately though, I've been really into Japanese TV. Stuff like Ninja Warrior, Banzuke, Human Tetris, MXC, Iron Chef or any of their other game shows. Japanese TV RULES! ..Books

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
