"A great new singer with a warm and jazzy touch -- set to some beautiful accompaniment on Fender Rhodes and percussion! The sound here is spare and stripped-down -- coffee house vocals at one level, but at another, incredibly soulful, and with a complex edge that actually puts this one next to some of the best recent cosmic soul recordings coming out of London, or some of the recent signings to Compost Records. Singer Jess Ciamantaro has a wonderful voice -- filled with rich tones and inflections that give him a sound that's unlike anyone else we've ever heard -- and the overall approach here, while steeped in jazz and soul influences, also has kind of a pan-genre approach that belies a great potential for the group.
