PolyRhythmic was formed in Chicago in 2001 and are the curators and producers of such events as Splatterjam, Dead Presidents and the long-running open mic Safe Smiles at Trace Lounge in Chicago's North Side neighborhood of Lakeview (a.k.a. "Wrigleyville"). PolyRhythmic have participated in such fesivals as the Bucktown Arts Festival, the Chicago Improv Festival and Around The Coyote.
Safe Smiles the weekly multimedia open mic and performance series, named a favorite open mic for poetry by both Chicago Magazine and TimeOut Chicago. Safe Smiles has featured some of the area's and the continent's finest spoken word performers and rising music, comedic and general performance art talent. Safe Smiles currently holds a longtime residency at the Trace Lounge, upstairs, but are currently on hiatus until March 2009.
