Pomme de Terre is a musical project consisting of Candy Bilyk and (hopefully eventually) some collaborators.
The idea is to explore some of the space between pop music and classical music, and since I come from a classical training, my first focus is on finding a voice in pop music.
About the Name:
"Pomme de terre" is French for "potato", but literally means "apple of the earth", which is why I like it so much. The idea of a potato being something so poetic as the apple of the earth makes me think of how every seemingly normal, boring person has something special to share. I was once considered conversationally fluent in French, and while my abilities have waned the language still holds a certain fascination for me, and my music is inspired by it in many ways.
Currently all of my recordings are basically rough demos. I make them in my apartment where I am scared of inciting the anger of fellow residents, so it's all fairly sotto voce :) Looking for ways to fix that, hopefully soon. Until then, thanks for bearing with me! If you'd like to hear my classical music, please check out my other myspace.
hey do me a big favor and help my girl Lucia win this contest! just click the banner below, thanks! if she wins i'll buy you a chocolate milkshake :p p.s. to check out her music go to http://www.myspace.com/luciastunes
I can't deny that I'm quite keen on this one :) Great stuff, apple baby. (I enjoy your classical stuff too, but there's something about folk that always sort of makes me feel comfortable and pleased. )
I know you!!!!!!!! You mentioned something about all those sirens last night. Small world, eh? While I was at work, we dropped off someone near Lake of Teh Isles (Mercedes, yeah!) and were heading back to 94 via Lake to Hennepin, and there was a fire truck unraveling a hose, ambulance, and multiple cop cars at the Lunds on Humboldt & Lake. I was able to check my Twitter updates from my iPod very shortly after, and the time frame adds up to approx. when you tweeted about the sirens. ♬♪we didn't start the fire!♪♬ Small world, eh? :D
