About me:
The Pony Girls are a pioneering force in Irish Alternative Cabaret, mixing traditional ideas of 1930s burlesque with avant guard and daring concepts of neo-burlesque. Inspired by the London and New York cabaret scene and concentrating on the humourous side of vaudeville, they paved the way using audience participation as an integral part of their show.Gringo and the Pony Girls have been bringing their stunning brand of kick-ass burlesque and vaudeville mayhem to select venues in Ireland and the UK since 2004. Due to popular demand, with their initial appearances in The Alternative Miss Ireland in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and with The Shamcocks (Ireland’s First Drag Kings), The Pony Girls quickly evolved developing and producing their own shows, incorporating cheeky burlesque, their own unique brand of hilarity, song, dance, grotesque comedy and ridiculous drag kings. The bridled beauties have performed their own sell-out shows at Dublin Fringe Festivals, Spiegeltent (2005, 2006 and 2007), Earagail Arts Festival 2007 and in Dublin favourites The Hub, Voodoo Lounge, The Green Lizard, The Boom Boom Room, The Sugar Club and The Twisted Pepper. The troupe have also made guest appearances at numerous live events including The Electric Picnic 2005-2008 (with Lost Vagueness) and The Glastonbury Arts Festival at Trash City (2007). TV appearances include MTV Canada/Australia/Brazil and The Podge and Rodge Show, RTE.
