Rest would take me the rest of my life and as I try to discover more new music every week, I'm never gonna be able to include everyone fairly. However favourite genres include almost everything:
Rock; Acoustic; Indie; Ska; Emo; Punk; Metal; Grunge; Minimalist; Contmporary; Jazz; Blues; Classical; Experimental; (some) Electronica; (some inc. Cheesy) Pop (after a few wee drams!); (some) Opera.
NOT dance/trance/rave/garage/r&b etc. unless drunk!
Movies
Yet again as for music, my dvd collection is far too immense to mention, but admitedly I'm probably typical girl: i.e. like anything with Johnny Depp/Heath Ledger/Brad Pitt in! Mind you i'm allowed Brad Pitt as Seven & Fight Club are a couple of my favourite films. Also re-got into 28 Days Later after seeing 28 Weeks Later (all your fault Adam). Like my cheese when being hormonal e.g. old classic Truly Madly Deeply & most of rest of time like my psychological thrillers/horrors or cult films, e.g. The Jacket, My Little Eye & Especially liked M.Night Shamalyan's The Village.
Television
When I get the chance: Film Four, E4, BBC 3 & Paramount Comedy pretty much rule.
Books
Again, nothing heavy at the mo aside from Education/Teaching/Children's (have to test out Harry Potter & Narnia for the job haha!) books, usually biographies, music biographies, travel novels, any travel book I can get my hands on (one day a rich billionaire might take a hint), therefore love Bill Bryson too - such an easy read. Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nightime was great too. Obviously all the old romantic classics grew up with e.g. Bronte's stuff etc. never fail.
Heroes
Well are few people who could say they are; so one day I'd also like to prove...
"We are the hero of our own story."-Mary McCarthy
Just a quick note to invite you to Le Bateau next Tuesday, the 7th October for the return of Adult Books!!! We're now on monthly on the first Tuesday of each month- it's gonna be ace, so hope you can be there! lotsa love

UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
with support from Honeytone Cody and The Borderline
£5/£4 flyer/NUS; doors 8pm
13 -17 Coney street, City Screen, York.
Formed five years ago in Paris, Underground Railroad released their debut album ‘Twisted Trees’ on One Little Indian in the summer of last year – a ferocious squall of a record crystallising the band’s love for post-punk and New York’s No Wave scene, it won them a passionate following through its wholly uncompromising nature.
Drummer Raphael Mura, guitarist Marion Andrau (who both take lead vocal duties) and bassist/backing vocalist JB Ganivet return in the latter half of 2008 with ‘Sticks and Stones’, a new album that smoothes over the jagged edges of their debut, imbuing upon them a strong melodic drive, without losing a trace of the band’s trademark integrity.
Recorded in Seattle at the dawn of 2008 with renowned producer John Goodmanson at its helm (Death Cab For Cutie, Blood Brothers, Sleater Kinney and Blonde Redhead), it sees Underground Railroad gain maturity without sacrificing their angular, noisy leanings.
A spectacular live show is long part of the band’s appeal, Mura’s presence behind the drum kit magisterial and Andrau’s vocals captivating. Couple this with a strong desire to road-test their new material, and 2008 looks likely to grant Underground Railroad a whole new audience.
Happy Birthday Moira!! I'm sorry I've been a horrible friend and have called or spoken to you in forever. I feel terrible.
I was thinking about coming to visit for a short period this fall. I've been thinking about visiting for a while and I have accumulated quite a few airline miles so I'm looking into it.
I miss you, I hope you have a wonderful birthday!! I miss you terribly xxx
Hey hey fellow snowboard gal! Guess what? I can't be back any later than the 25th April - flippin just been reminded that I have a trip booked to Dublin on saturday 26th! Just for the day but cant really back out. Sooooo, can you manage the week starting the friday 18th? or is it saturday to saturday only?
Well it wasn't a park night so not too fussed. I shall see what I can do on one of those dates, I get paid mid month annoyingly so it depends on finances!
It seems like years since the last Moorfest happened and to be honest I think the weather was very much a factor in whether people enjoyed themselves or not. Some thrived in the mud whilst others wept until their dads could pick them up. Moorfest is still carving an identity for itself and in the three years that it has been established I think I can say that the one thing that most people love about it is the friendly atmosphere, and this gig is a good opportunity to meet up with friends that perhaps you haven't seen since the festival, to make new friends, enjoy quality music, get a flavour of Moorfest if you haven't already been and also to talk to the organisers in order to give your opinions on how to improve the festival. We'll also be projecting your favourite photos that you've taken from previous Moorfests to create a live mashup that will adorn the walls of the Brudenell so please send them to bandsformoorfest@yahoo.co.uk and make sure that everyone in the picture is cool for you to use them like this.
There'll be much more to boot like gorgeous organic food, t-shirt stall, films and raffles to win tickets to Moorfest 4 which we're working on right now and aim to make it the best yet.
We really appreciate your continued support in making Moorfest what it is and hope to see you all there.
