Interests

  • General

Wine, women and song (but since I'm married, that would be woman).

  • Music

Imagine you're a Lost castaway. You have power and a record player. You just happened to be carrying 25 LPs on Oceanic flight 815. What are they?

The stipulations here: You must actually own the albums (in whatever format). No greatest hits compilations. No live albums. No movie soundtracks (b/c then everyone would say The Big Chill soundtrack and New Order Substance and Depeche Mode 101 and the the Ella Fitzgerald Verve Collection). I'm numbering the list, but it's not in any real order.

    1. Since I'm currently listening to it: Sugar, Copper Blue
    2. The Beatles, White Album
    3. The Sundays, Blind
    4. Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Are You Normal?
    5. Matthew Sweet, Girlfriend
    6. The Cure, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
    7. Belle and Sebastian, Tigermilk
    8. Brittle Stars, Brittle Stars
    9. Buffalo Tom, Big Red Letter Day
    10. Charming, Champagne and Magazines
    11. Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Get Happy (reissue)
    12. Nick Drake, Bryter Layter
    13. Depeche Mode, Violator
    14. Dillon Fence, Living Room Scene
    15. Luna, Penthouse
    16. Liz Phair, Exile in Guyville
    17. The Pixies, Doolittle
    18. R.E.M., Green
    19. The Replacements, Pleased To Meet Me
    20. Simon & Garfunkel, Sounds of Silence
    21. The Judybats, Pain Makes You Beautiful
    22. Mojave 3, Out of Tune
    23. U2, The Joshua Tree
    24. Teenage Fanclub, Thirteen
    25. Velocity Girl, Simpatico!

It's a little scary how most of these albums came out when I was in high school and college. Perhaps familiarity breeds content?       :)

  • Movies

I used to put the Star Wars trilogy up here, but now that it's a sextology (and a somewhat weak one at that), I'll just pull out The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars, and bits and pieces of the others. The Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings trilogies are just fine however. Other films I enjoy: Office Space, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, The Professional, Clerks, Akira, Princess Mononoke (and btw, anime should be viewed with subtitles, not dubbed), all the Pixar films thus far, The Graduate, Manhattan (pretty much all Woody Allen is good for one reason or another), Trainspotting, Say Anything, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Old School, Super Troopers, 24 Hour Party People, Big Trouble in Little China, the Harry Potter series, Casablanca, most Cary Grant films, most Hitchcock films, most Kubrick films. Once again, this list could go on forever...
  • Television

You can read the list and / or check out the widget: The Boondocks, Veronica Mars, Smallville, Gilmore Girls (yes, I have the TV viewing habits of a 16-year old girl, and I like WB shows), Psych, Lost, House (the only character on TV as misanthropic as me), Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, What About Brian?, My Name Is Earl, The Closer, Good Eats, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, MythBusters. New shows: Jericho, Standoff, Brothers & Sisters, Heroes, Studio 60...

  • Books

Easier to list authors: Steinbeck, Hemingway, Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Philip K. Dick, Hammett, Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rowling, Twain, Verne, Honore de Balzac, Wilde, and of course, Shakespeare.
  • Heroes

    You.

About me:

.. To quote one of my favorite Demotivators: "Attitudes are contagious. Mine might kill you."

You're Ulysses!
by James Joyce
Most people are convinced that you don't make any sense, but compared to what else you could say, what you're saying now makes tons of sense. What people do understand about you is your vulgarity, which has convinced people that you are at once brilliant and repugnant. Meanwhile you are content to wander around aimlessly, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. What you see is vast, almost limitless, and brings you additional fame. When no one is looking, you dream of being a Greek folk hero.

The Movie Of Your Life Is An Indie Flick
You do things your own way - and it's made for colorful times.
Your life hasn't turned out how anyone expected, thank goodness!

Your best movie matches: Clerks, Garden State, Napoleon Dynamite

Who I'd like to meet:

You

    Hi there.

Thanks for your support for the Children Of Húrin – JRR Tolkien’s masterpiece.

We thought you might be interested in a newly released Special Limited Edition of the book, which is

numbered and signed by Christopher Tolkien and illustrator Alan Lee, hand stitched and embossed.

It’s available to purchase here, to everyone – except residents of

the U.S.A.. - where unfortunately UK publisher Harper Collins do not retain any rights.

The book is an instant classic and it’s selling fast!

    Thanks for your time…

Hi Tony! How are you? I'm headed to C-town this week, going to visit the fam and take in some rain whilst there...when have you been there last? What else is cooking with you?
  • Jul 31 2007 9:40 PM

Nope, I won't be able to go to OH for Labor Day afterall. Our best friends are getting married on the beach in Mexico and I couldn't pass that up.
I will be in San Fran from Sept 8-16 for vacation with my sisters - we'll have to meet up for a drink and you can fill me in on the reunion!
  • Jul 27 2007 3:39 AM

  • Jul 24 2007 6:19 AM

Sooo... Charlie's new "brother" came home today. He's pure black with little white freckles on his face. Unfortunately, I think Charlie is having a "My mommy!!!" reaction. Yeah... the fur was flying for a little bit.

Aw, c'mon, it's just because you're so damn cute! You ought to be flattered. My mom's page is littered with many Asian babies...lol.
    How are ya, anyway?
  • Jul 10 2007 5:04 AM

Yeeaaahh, sorry bout that. I was a little busy, what with watching the all-star batting practice and homerun derby and all.
Would you believe $100 for nosebleed seats?!?!
