Beauty Scene Outlaws "You're Soaking in it " CD
Beauty Scene Outlaws are a vehicle for the skewed pop smarts and wise-guy wordplay of songwriters Norm Wilson and Mike P, Syracuse, NY natives who spent their childhood modeling children's Halloween costumes for Don Post mail-order catalogs. While attending Coppin State in 1989, the duo formed their first group, Hausfrau, which featured songwriter Mike P on keyboards and Wilson as lead vocalist; the band was rounded out by guitarist/songwriter Paul Shedd and drummer John Bateman.
Their quirky, tongue-in-cheek art pop failed to find an audience, however, and their manager successfully convinced the band to change the group's name. After becoming Beauty Scene Outlaws, they almost reached the Hot 100 with the single "Potsie" and 1992's sublimely bizarre "Magic Time Is For Winners" cemented the band's cult status, scoring another near-hit with "Boy From Guantanamo Bay."
By 1997's ironic Introducing Beauty Scene Outlaws, recorded with a series of Swedish session players, the BSO were treading water, so they enlisted German producer "The Human" to helm 1997's synth-powered pop confection Chocolate Macaroni & Cheese, which spurred the group to renewed success in Norway on the strength of the hit singles "Cat Sample,""Food For Fancy," and "Dance Camp 2000" The Human's sidekick Olan Mills took the production reins for the immediate follow-up, Pageant Tryouts, which scored a massive French hit with "Where's Our Commercial."
The disastrously wonderful 1999 LP Bulling Ratchets Out Of Mats was followed by a long hiatus. Outside of composing the music for Asian "pink" films, BSO remained silent until this year's new release You're Soaking In It. The newly revamped BSO still combine wise-guy lyrics with occasional synth-pop moments, but are now fueled by scorching guitars and catchy melodies that never seem to leave your head. Cuts like "The Centaur" and "Don't Hang Up the Phone" are pure pop/punk genius and show why the BSO are still one of the best pop smart bands around today.
The Human "The Human Loves You " CD Eco-wallet
Norm
Wilson became The Human after
his former band and cult faves Wallmen
parted ways in 1996. With encouragement from Wallmen
producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury
Rev), Norm built a home studio in his native
Syracuse, NY, and The Human transformed
from home recording experiment to full time project.
Using vintage sequencers and instruments played in real
time, The Human's pop genius can be heard
in tracks like No Secret's Safe and I'm
New Here. Narrative song structures explore the
boundaries of personal relationships, nostalgia, and longing,
while lush arrangements and clever lyrics lend a filmic
proportion to hooky melodies.
Released independently on Popcycle Records,
The Human Loves You will appeal to those
looking for solid songwriting, classic pop melodies, and
ear-catching production. Unique enough to draw fans of
indie and sythpop, The Human plays in
support of his debut with a stage show mixing live guitars
and sampling over programmed drum beats..

Oh I wish I could be human like you. But my heart is not in it.
so far my journalism career questions are this:
with so many things wrong with the human race, why did you choose to call yourself "the human"? are you not ashamed of everything humans have done to this world?
your record label name sounds a lot like popsicle, a flavored ice treat on a stick. is that why you choose that name? to be whimsically adjacent to the popular vote? are you trying to take over the pop music culture, like some yogurt culture frozen treat baddie? are you admiting that all music is recycled and that is why it sounds the same because there are only 7 notes? (I will list them here in case you don't know A - B - C - D - E - F - G). Are you planning to use sharps and flats to your competitive advantage, and avoid bar chords and the usual la-la-la's to be unique? or will you just stick with the tried and true method of costume changes and civil disobedience in order to get noticed on your crowded planet? please type your responses in 7 bit, so i don't have to translate.
