About me:

Read the New PopGurls Blog -- http://www.popgurls.com/blog

PopGurls is a web magazine for anyone who likes a little bit of irony with their entertainment news.

PopGurls features celebrity interviews that are just left of center, eschewing "Who are your influences?" in favor of "If you were a reality TV show, what would be your purpose?" As fans, we realize that many interviews in the mainstream press offer only glimpses of our favorite celebs -- often the same glimpses over and over again. So we ask the offbeat questions that manage to dig a little deeper.

Our site was born in Internet fandom. Our writers and editors participate in a variety of .. communities, often culling story ideas from what we see there. Just like any fan, our interests wax and wane, and the content of the site reflects that. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Who I'd like to meet:
everyone...

The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting

The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting

Oct 5 2007 12:54 AM

My brother and I figured it out one night: We saw the Replacements 150 times over the course of their twelve years. They changed my life, saved my life, made my life richer, and at the moment, I feel not necessarily nostalgic (punk was and is decidedly anti-nostalgia, and if ever a band kicked against the pricks of preservation societies like books and halls of fame it was these guys), but I admit that I feel a need to know if any of it mattered, or if it even happened. I also fear that if some of this doesn’t get written down, it will all be forgotten. And it’s important not to forget, because for a good while there, they were the best band in the world. Here’s why:

Hello!

Thanks for being a myspace-friend!

Are you interested in audiobooks?
I was wondering whether you had a minute to check out my shortstory “Sofia in the Sand”.
You can listen to the narrated text of the story on my profile. If you hate german accents ;) you should read the story in my blog, just a mouse click away...

The german version of “Sofia in the Sand” originated as the result of a writing competition of the travel section of the “taz” (a German daily newspaper) that appeared in the concurrent anthology of beach stories (“Strandgeschichten”) by Hans Schiler Publishers. Also on the literature portal “Titel-Magazin” as well as in “Footage – Magazin für Fußball und Popkultur” (a magazine for football and pop culture). What would one call something like this? Perhaps a mini audio book or an audio short story.
Cheers,
seb.

“So compassionate literature can be! A beautiful miniature story with a big final, clearly written. Light – and slightly melancholic.” (Editorial department of the “Titel-Magazin” about the german version of “Sofia in the sand")
