On a cold autumnal night in 1999, seven men embarked on a journey from the Red Lion pub down Worcester high street.. Their mission - to avoid falling over and to find a curry house that would take them..
Little did they know but that evening was to provide inspiration for what is tipped to be the first genuine "Made For Christmas Number One... Christmas Number One" (apart from the Band Aid trilogy) for 28 years...
Two years later, in the autumn of 91, Mike Sinnott and Jimmy Greenwood ran into eachother again through their mutual friend and '99 curry night host, Dominic Turnor. By this stage, Mike had embarked upon a sound engineer course and Mike's friend Nick Redman invited them to his home studio in East Croydon to record the track... lyrics were written (and tuned - big thank you to Mr Pitch Perfect himself Chris Demetriou) and the Poppadom Song was born.
A month of meetings, running around, Top of the Pops reccies, a (sort of) Live performance at the Cobden Club, DJ airplay promises.... and.... brick wall. The publishing company who owned the original "Stop the Cavalry by Jona Lewie" had flung us a fob that Jona had refused approval for the parody (changing words but keeping his tune)... We later discovered that he had never been given the demo.
ANYWAY....
We now appeal to Jona to contact us through MySpace and give us the thumbs up to make the record available for sale... for release on digital download this year. We are in discussion with various high profile music mates to give us a remix or two for the EP..
All else is in place... Spread the word and let's do this!!!
