“ Known as the front man for upbeat Sydney based band The Paper Scissors, Jai rarely has the time to perform as his solo project Pork Pies, but his music is too lovely to go unrecorded. His songs evoke a warm, unsentimental nostalgia for truthful, emotional storytelling, and his lyrics reveal a world where memories are tactile and complex relationships are the nuts and bolts of human experience. His songs draw you in and hold your attention, whether inside a secret darkness, or in soft open light of an ending summers day.” Amelia Tovey Jai has finally taken the time to record some songs in his bedroom, complete with flight path noises, crackles and mistakes, the Pork Pies EP is 4 songs about family, breakdowns and friends, all written out of human concern. The EP is available in a very limited edition handmade physical format at shows and will be on itunes in February, Both through Our First Label/ MGM distribution.
