Martin Klabunde has been playing and studying percussion for the last eighteen years. Martin is currently a student of Mamady Keita, and a certified Professor in Mamady’s international school of the djembe, Tam Tam Mandingue. Martin is among a small handful of drummers who have been commissioned by Mamady to preserve and teach the music, culture, spirit and traditions of the Mandingue djembe. Martin has studied music in Guinea, Mali, Uganda, and on the island of Zanzibar. This CD utilizes Martin’s technical knowledge and spiritual wisdom of the traditional African music and culture.
All instruments were played by Martin and recorded track by track. Most rhythms on the CD were created spontainously with no pre-planned agenda, a few are traditional as indicated. The intention is to use music tocreate an opening (portal) into other worlds with the intention of unconditional love, forgiveness, peace and humilty for all beings.
Special Thanks to: The Big Spirit, The Masters, Pedro and the tribe for thier unconditional love and support in teachng me about life, death andsurrender.
