I am always a little reticent to list my (our) influences because: one, it seems obligatory; secondly, you always end up leaving someone out; and lastly, you can always lead folks in the wrong direction by being "too eclectic" - or rather too full of yourself and your own bullshit – ya dig? That said, with the previous and following disclaimer, this by no means is a complete list – but we, as people, cannot deny those who came before us and still inspire us. Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World (tm) and hopefully the whole is greater than the sum o’ the parts in the end: Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Built to Spill, Bob Dylan (circa the Rolling Thunder Revue), John Lennon, Steve Earle, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Soundgarden, Wilco, Jimi Hendrix (Band of Gypsys), Modest FUCKING Mouse, The Rolling Stones (Goats Head Soup), The Shins, Radio Nationals, My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, Drive by Truckers, AC/DC (’74 Jailbreak), Lynyrd Skynyrd (’73 – ’77), Pantera (Cowboys from Hell), Johnny Cash (RIP, biz-natch, you earned it), Al Green, BMRC, The Allman Brothers (Eat a Peach), The Black Keys, Cheap Trick (hey, I grew up in the Midwest too, bitches), The Clash (London Calling), Miles Davis (A Tribute to Jack Johnson), Dave Voss, Dave Keppel, The Eagles, Grandaddy (Under the Western Freeway), Gram Parsons, Jimmie Dale Gilmore (The Flatlanders, “More a Legend than a Band”), Marvin Gaye, Emmylou Harris, Roy Orbison, Jane’s Addiction, House of Large Sizes, The Ramones, Son Volt, Son House, Public Enemy (Fear of a Black Planet), 4hr Ramona, Mark Lanegan, The Stooges, Robin Trower, The Pixies (Surfer Rosa), Lou Reed, Ween, The White Stripes, Whiskeytown, Wolfmother, Bone Cellar, Jim Sykes, Love Battery, Voodoo Gearshift and waaaay too many local bands to mention… Lastly, your Mother and especially your Sister - and the late, great, Warren Zevon. I may still be waiting for my saving grace order of Lawyers, Guns & Money, you dead son of a bitch… but, I have learned to enjoy every sandwich in the meantime...

…something that should primarily appeal to the over 30 crowd weaned on '70s rock, but some kids seem to dig too. Think Wilco meets Neil Young at a Pink Floyd recording session with the benefit of experiencing the early '90s grunge days of Seattle - via vintage gear that was “state of the art” in 1978, and you'll begin to get the idea. Peace out, bitches.
Porter Harp & Friends’ latest album, "Drinking Season", is an atmospheric, layered, cross-genre exploration of psychedelia and Americana-inspired space rock warmly wrapped in the hazy cloud of a late night, whiskey-mellowed, Crazy Horse-style jam session.
Side Note: Well, we’re just getting started with this whole Myspace Tomfoolery (you damn, kids!), so please be patient… then again, FUCK that – I’m not very patient either. Essentially, I want to post songs and info about the music we make here - past, present and future - featuring Jeff Baars, Tim Fekete and myself. Be sure to check out the Pics & Vid clip pages (insert a very solid shout out to DullFaceRobsterBoy here for providing the content – another hell yeah to William Alan, Deron Lord and the rest of you folks that have recorded some of this mess on (digital) celluloid – it’s your fault for making me do the things that I do).

Thanks a lot for the add. EletriKa is completely different of every Metal band you already know. Please, when you have a minute, just check EletriKa out, ok?
This will be my last show in Seattle before moving out east for awhile. Hope to see you there!! Also check the bare bones version a new song I have posted on my page “Come On”!
shiiiit-- come to think of it, that message should be the intro to DITC.
duh.
also-- i'm wanting to hear the guitar doubling tim-- heavy, low and mixed in so it's sitting right on top of the bass line. or maybe even just mix in an over-compressed, ultra-distorted, high-eq'd track of tim's bass panned at one or two o'clock away from the original... mmm-hmmm. let's talk.
remember the voicemail you left me when i was back east that i recorded into protools?
"WHAT THE HELL-- WAKE UP! IT'S DRINKIN' SEASON?"
expect to hear that as an intro to a wasabi warfare track soon. hope everything is good with the fam and that walt is progressing positively. talk to you soon,
I read Jack's blog, the reader comments were pretty funny too. "So dude, can I get his number?" Although I didn't really laugh, it just seems so typical of the music "industry. " ~KB

Not to sound queer or nothin but even though you are not listed on my top friends list I think you are fuckin awesome. PS, I like to get my butt kicked, bring it on.
"It would be difficult to overstate the importance of Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. As a political statement, as a sonic experience, as a hip-hop album, and as music, period, it just doesn't get much better than this 1988 LP. Commemorating the 20th anniversary of its release this year, Public Enemy performed the record in its entirety, including on Friday night at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival, presented with All Tomorrow's Parties. Chuck D, Hank and Keith Shocklee of the production team the Bomb Squad, and long-time associate and "media assassin" Harry Allen also appeared on a panel here in Chicago to discuss the record. Incororating footage from these events and additional interviews, Pitchfork. tv presents the story of this album as told by the people who made it happen."
Perhaps you have no use for excuses and excuse I do not try to schlep but an explanation may be due to ensure that no disrespect was intended or carried without intention indeed, the highest gratitude was felt by me, and the rest for your generosity in time & labor in crafting our noise let me just say that while it must seem like there was always something with me there was, in fact, always something that was a substantive something not a nothing something I speak of the something that stood between me and point B (B is for Ballard) Clearly, being late is passe and it's not a style I'm going for so maybe, if all parties are amenable what was left unfinished can be done that is, if I can fucking show up on time oi vey... thanks... sorry... oi...
