BAND HISTORY
Gary Porter played at the packed 20,000 strong crowed at the Oswestry Music Festival in Shropshire which was broadcast live on the BBC. Gary has been writing his own material for 10 years and his music has grown from strength to strength incorporating a wide and diverse range of musical influences. Gary formally fronted the band Crisis Days and wrote and produced the material for the album Common Denominator.(mastered by Deborah Bonham's studio in London).. Over recent years Gary and the band moved beyond the UK shores to play and record throughout Europe. This has included sessions in Ireland, Malta, Spain, Greece and Canada
Gary decided to take a year off to write some new material ,making a point of watching some of the worlds top artists and bands..(something that you don't always have time for when your playing),with a view to putting a band together capable of playing any venue or stadium in the world, crossing the boundaries of playing in one particular genre...
Gary asked session guy's AL Vosper (Joe Cocker,Paul Young, Beverly Knight,Chris de Burgh) on lead guitar and the prolific jazz drummer Mark Cecil to help him try out some of the new material upon his return whilst searching for members to form the new band "Porter"..
The search was completed at the begining of 2007 featuring Andrew Keil (drums and percussion), Geoff Conway (bass guitar),Dave Melling (keyboards, sax and trumpet), Dave Sage (lead guitar) and Gary Porter (vocals,guitar)...
The new 10 track album "Straight Line" is now available on the KDM label and on I-tunes www.itunes.com/porter/straightline
I’ve been a music journalist for more than 10 years. Over the years, many artists and managers have asked me what the best way to break into the European music market is.
Here are some things you can do:
Publish artist press releases, news, and tour dates to the CountryHome Forum on MySpace, http://groups.myspace.com/CountryHomeMagazine , CountryHome Forum is part of CountryHome, http://www.CountryHome.de , Germany's Premier Country Music Online Magazine. Everything you publish to the CountryHome Forum will be published in my weekly Newsletter which has over 80,000 readers.
Send me CDs and DVDs for review and set up an artist interview with me. All reviews and interviews will be submitted to the magazines I'm writing for. More information for which magazines I'm writing can be found at http://www.MySpace.com/ChristianLamitschka
Upload artist videos to http://www.MyVideo.de and http://www.ClipFish.de . Both websites are like http://www.YouTube.com and uploading videos is free. The websites are completely in German. If you don’t speak German and need assistance, I will help you open an account and upload a video for 25 Euro. Each additional video upload for the same artist name and at the same video website is 10 Euro.
If you have more questions about the European music market or about any of the information I send to you today, please contact me at Ch.Lamitschka@t-online.de too.
