Portia is a band on the fringe of category. Lyrically driven...structurally pop,
but experimentally motivated to make you question the the bands creative origin.
Inspired by the the grit and desperation of the regions surroundings,
Portia finds beauty in all things abandoned. This trio blooms year-round in the border-cities of Windsor/Detroit. The combination of electronic and analogue instruments mixed with unlikely soundscapes create Portia's diverse influence responsible for their forward sound. Through the emotive and engaging percussive stylings of Shane Miersch, the warm perfection on bass played by Eric Arner, the humbled guitar and ethereal, jazzy vocal haunts of Steph Copeland, an inspired new genre is created. Minimalist electronic overtones provide a moody backdrop for the stories found in the lyrics. Portia are currently performing in the Windsor/Detroit region, with plans to extend their reach outward in all directions.
