Portland Music Company has been operating since 1927. The Martin Luther King Blvd store was moved from downtown in March 2000. We are one of 5 locations in the greater Portland-Beaverton area. The MLK store features hundreds of electric guitars, basses, and amplifiers. We have a vast selection of recording equipment and the knowledge to back it up.
You won't find better experience, knowledge and support anywhere else.
The MLK store offers affordable production software classes in a fully equipped, state of the art classroom. We carry the best lines of products in town like: Fender, Vox, Gretsch, Ibanez, Bogner, Eastman, Taylor, Marshall, Boss, THD, Motu, Presonus, M-audio, Genelec, Tascam, Line6, Korg, Roland, Mackie, JBL, Tama, KRK, DW, Samson, Zoom, Behringer, DBX, Focusrite, Yamaha , just to name a few!
Whether you are looking for a custom drum set, a jazz guitar or a complete recording studio, you will find our prices extremely competitive and a very fun place to hang out.
Well yes, a little bit of shameless self promotion won't hurt too much right? But don't worry, we're not here to shove products in your face. We have a web site for that (ok, you can check it out, you know you want to) We are here to have fun and maybe, in a very small way, we can try to help our fellow bands, musicians and artistes in Oregon.
We are interested in local bands, musicians, venues, artists, studios, radio stations, labels, basically anyone who's related to what we love. We want to play your music, post your gigs, report stolen gear etc...let us know what we can do.
Just a reminder about our upcoming show! We would love to see you here...

Hey Portland Music Company, A friend's band up your way just had their instruments stolen - The Drews in Tahuya, WA. Someone broke into their house and stole 5 guitars - one was a family heirloom - an old Fender White Telecaster. There's pics of the stolen guitars on my site at www. screamingstone. com Hoping you can help spread the word around your area. Thanks and rock on!
Thanks for your friendship and support of the music.
We've recently released a Hawkeye DVD, "Hawkeye Live In Concert." The DVD consists of two 55-minute concerts filmed in 2005 and 2006. The DVD is now available at; www. HawkeyeHerman. com
A piece in four acts, “Toy Room” chronicles the life story of the enigmatic Sally Tomato. Touching on her childhood and hurtling into a chaotic adult life, the story line moves through an abusive marriage on its way to rediscovering the innocence of youth. Throughout the play, Sally struggles to regain the ability she had as a child to rise above the mundane via her imagination. In the end she triumphs, finding that the toy room has always existed in her own mind – and reminding us that it exists in ours as well.
