consistes primarily of an iconoclastic & mediocre one man band led by Michael 'Ducky' Raley. The "Two women" is a metaphor for the dualities that are inherent in the playing of the Anglo Concertina. The concertina has two voices in left and right, and they are of equal finesse.
Though he was musically trained on woodwind instruments such as the Tenor Sax in middle school, he chose the Banjo, a tape recorder , and an Atari 800 home computer for his signature sound in the 1980's.
attempted rhythm & bluegrass, but bizarely, using a speeded up double recording process. He also wrote several electronic peices for the computer using algorithms and numeric data streams including a complete march now lost to technical obsolescene. Ducky also fancies himself a poet and writes bits and peices of verse and lyrics exploring metaphysics, nature, fear, desire, loss, decaf coffe, frozen meat, and lonelyness. His work drawing on both an unanchored life in a navy family and humble southern roots.
Ducky plays limited performances, generally guerrilla gigs in Poulsbo's waterfront park, and at various open mic events.
After a few years of failed writing projects, lack of direction and little opportunity in the local area he went into the Military.
Because of his amazing knowledge of accoustic physics, intelligence, wit and charm, the U.S Navy made Ducky into a submarine sonar technician and gave him a one hundred thousand Watt amplifier system to entertain dolphins and shrimp with. This persisted until late 1995.
After the Navy Ducky found a job performing vibration and accoustic analysis of rotating machinery for an engineering firm, but it would be several more years before he again resumed an interest of music. This change occured as he began to defy the passive-observant behaviour of couch-potatoism and sought more interactive life experiences.
"Suite for sheep", "Microwave popcorn" and "Essential Piper' marked his return to experimental compositions using Midi sequencing software composed and recorded entirely from a Laptop computer. He began adding a Midi cabapble Synthesizer into his recording despite being a piss poor pianist.
Then one day he spotted an anglo concertina and said "Ooh I gotta have that". Do not, under any circumstances, call it an Accordian! The family has now grown. In Feb. of 2009 he recieved his beautiful Morse Cieli 30 button C/G Anglo which he carries around nearly everywhere.
Enjoy, please comment.
