Post Dial is an electronic/punk duo from Istanbul, Turkey, formed by Yigit Bulbul (guitar, vocal, synths) and Sinan Tinar (drums, vocal, synths).
They met in their early high school years, but they started concentrating on the band during 2006.
The duo's music is mainly influenced by bands like New Order, Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, The Chemical Brothers; and musical movements like post-punk and Madchester.
Their first EP "Lights Off Here It Is" was released at the end of 2007. This EP contains five songs, all which can be listened at www.myspace.com/postdial . All of the tracks in this EP are written by Post Dial and recorded, mixed and mastered at their home studio.
Following the release of "Lights Off Here It Is", they started performing live. Since January 2008, they perform at Dogzstar and Peyote. Each month they have gigs at these underground music venues of Istanbul.
The most striking characteristic of Post Dial is their live performances; which are far more enhanced by their visuals and their concert posters that may stick to your mind with their designs as well as their provocative headlines like "I don’t like Post Dial!" or "I went to this Post Dial concert and all I had was a lousy one night stand!."
On stage, Yigit and Sinan play all the songs from ‘Lights Off Here It Is’ as well as their new songs like ‘Will You Let Me Sleep’, ‘Get It’, ‘Sway’, ‘Next Big Thing’. These new songs can be listened only on stage, ‘til they release their second EP. Post Dial’s songs, together with Yigit and Sinan’s high energy on stage makes it difficult for the audience not to move.
Post Dial caught the attention of the press quickly, as influential international magazines such as Rolling Stone and Time Out Istanbul recommended Post Dial to their readers. In its October 2008 issue, Rolling Stone Turkey published a review of Post Dial, mentioning the duo as "a highly recommended band". Local media like ROLL, Bant Magazine, Blue Jean, Billboard and Cumhuriyet newspaper also interviewed Post Dial. Spin Earth also featured Post Dial after their Rock'n Coke performance, to be found at http://www.spinearth.tv/articles/2389
The duo’s Hands Gettin Dirty video was also featured on an international TV Channel, Dream TV starting on July 2009, which can be also watched at http://www.dreamtv.com.tr/videolar/393 and http://www.rockncoke.com/Video.aspx?Id=471
Besides, musicians like Peter Hook and Erol Alkan listened to Post Dials Lights Off Here It Is EP and made positive reviews about it.
As being highly influenced by the bands of Madchester era, Post Dial performed a couple of months ago at Joy Divison Tribute Night in Istanbul. They played the songs Warsaw, No love Lost, Leaders of Men, New Dawn Fades, Atmosphere, videos of which can be watched at www.vimeo.com/tag:postdial.
Nowadays Yigit and Sinan concentrate on their upcoming EP, which will be released in early days of 2010. They also go on impressing crowds in Istanbul with their live performances. The duo recently played before We Have Band at Rock’n Coke Festival in Istanbul; at this festival headliners were The Prodigy and Nine Inch Nails.
