  • Bio

Featured in the book 'Jam Bands: North America's Hottest Live Groups', Post Junction brings together funk, jazz, soul, and rock with an emphasis on improvisation. Influences include George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic, Sly and the Family Stone, Jerry Garcia Band, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, and Miles Davis. The lineup is: Robbi Kumalo on vocals, Jon Fadem on guitar and vocals, Greg Lissauer on saxophone and percussion, Steve Zalalas on bass, and Vernon Mobley on drums. The band characterizes its music as "earthy funk for your mind and body." ---------------------- 2006 saw Post Junction jamming with funk legends George Clinton and Bernie Worrell, inspiring the band to reach for new levels of the funk. 2007 & 2008 saw Jon Fadem sitting in with George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic, Steve Kimock, George Porter, Jr. of The Meters, Robert Walter of The Greyboy Allstars, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. In 2009, he sat in with George Clinton and the 420 Funk Mob and Devon Allman's Honeytribe. Over the past few years, the band's following has continued to grow, and their original repertoire has expanded dramatically. In 2006, they won Lehigh University's Battle of the Bands, and they were nominated for Lehigh Valley Music Awards every year from 2007-2010, including best original band, best jam band, most entertaining band, best female vocalist, best guitarist, and best drummer. The band has performed numerous gigs with the legendary Parliament/Funkadelic keyboardist and Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame member Bernie Worrell. 2011 saw the addition of the great Robbi Kumalo on vocals. Robbi is an incredible award-winning vocalist who has performed with Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Harry Belafonte, and many more, and she brings her amazing talent and energy to the band. 2011 also saw the addition of multi-instrumentalist Greg Lissauer on saxohpne and percussion, further fattening the band's sound. Post Junction has continued it's evolution moving forward with the funk, taking the groove into the future. --------------------------- "Post Junction likes to groove, and if you're into funk and jams, you'll be groovin' with them. You never know where one of their improvisations is going to go; often the band is surprised too. This jam band has met a good deal of success both locally in the Lehigh Valley and nationally through the jam band network and through shout outs from Relix Magazine. Relix said they believe this band may meet more success than other jam bands because their music is more focused. Their jams aren't the hour-long, I-forgot-what-song-I-was-listening-to wanderings of some of the other bands in the genre. A typical Post Junction show may include tunes like Parliament Funkadelic's "Standing on the Verge of Getting it on" or their "Mothership Connection" and Sly and the Family Stone's "Sing a Simple Song." However, don't you dare think for a moment that these are boring, heard-it-all-before covers. The band uses these songs as inspiration for their brilliant improvisations." --Colette Cope, PennLive.com ----------------------- "Post Junction is a promising funk/groove band... has a musically smart sound that veers on the more rock side of jazz/funk/groove fusions. It also boasts...more focused songs for this genre, which could give it an edge. A prime example is "Time For Some Answers" with its rhythmic undertow and funky lead guitar work. Other highlights are the alluring instrumental grooves of "Vibe," which aptly lives up to its title and the soulful tones of "Stare Into the Hole." --Mick Skidmore, Relix Magazine .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
