   About Post Mortem
Post Mortem was formed on March 22, 1982, in the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts. Although one of the lesser know Boston bands they were part of the Original Boston Hardcore and Punk Scene. They played several shows and recorded 2 studio demos, both of which recieved radio airplay on the legendary "Faster Than You" show. They also had reviews and exposure in Maximun R & R, and other Magazines and Fanzines. Post Mortem was formed by Rick McIver, Mark Kelley, Tom Nelligan and Norman McIver. After several house parties, Norman was kicked out of the band. New bassist and local scenester Chris Jordan, immediately switched to vocals and began the Post Mortem period know as the Golden Months. This period was short lived. Chris Jordan wielded a Machete during a psychotic rage involving an Ex, and was then commited to the Metropolitan State Mental Hospital. At this point second guitarist Mark Kelley switched to Vocals to form the Post Mortem line up for the Early Years recordings on this page. Upon his release from the Nut House, Chris Jordan formed S.T.P. and had great success. His biggest contribution to Post Mortem was the legendary double crossed tee Post Mortem logo, which stayed with the band, even through the metal years. Post Mortem played several shows during the early years period with local bands such as; DYS, Jerry's Kids, Gang Green, Siege, The Not, Police State, Terminally Ill, Abotion Squad, Kilslug, PTL Klub, Psycho, Cancerous Growth, etc. There was supposed to be a 7" record released, but they never had the funds to release it. The "Punk After Death" demo was released and sold at shows and local record stores, as well as through mail order. Guitarist Tom Nelligan left the band in 1984 due to musical differences. Mark Kelley then switched to Bass. The band then teamed up with Guitarist John Alexander and vocalist John McCarthy. The crossover movement had begun with many of the other Boston Punk bands. The new Post Mortem returned with a heavy Doom and Sludge sound, and so began the metal years. This lasted from 1985-2002. Post mortem recieved rave reviews with the "Dead Shall Rise" demo and were signed to New Rennaissance records in California. The "Coroners Office" debut album was hailed as a classic in the 1980's underground metal scene and sold over 10,000 copies. It was later released on CD , along with the Post Mortem back catalog on Red Light, unfortunately the mastering was terrible! See the official Post Mortem metal years Myspace page for more info etc. Even during the metal years Post Mortem always remained true to their Punk Rock roots and continued to play "Run Amok" as a staple in their set. This was one of the first tunes they ever wrote. Post Mortem never fit in with any scene, always one step ahead and pissing people off wherever they went. In 2002 Post Mortem finally called it quits. The Macca is still trying to keep this legacy alive! Post Mortem Punk After Death!!!!!!
