So with a new drummer sorted and my last show announced, it’s about time I gave a little statement about the whole situation.
Pretty much since PMP started, I have been in a “proper job”. With this unfortunately comes annual leave allowance. In the early days, this didn’t matter as we never imagined getting anywhere or touring, but as time went by we were offered more and more shows and then the tour offers started. Because of my leave allowance at work, I could only do a fairly big tour, or a couple of small ones each year. This has been the case for PMP this whole time (in case you’re wondering why there calendar hasn’t been rammed all these years!).
However, with the release of the new album, the plan was to go full time and agree to a lot more tour offers, which I could not do. Not only do I not have enough leave at work, but in this time at the job, I have been advancing in my career and am now bang in the middle of a part time degree with them, making it even more difficult to leave. You may think I’m crazy for choosing work, but in the long run, I know it’s the right choice.
Being in PMP has been an awesome experience. I starting drumming when the band started (yeah the first few practises sucked on a technical level). I’ve been able to travel the country and even Europe, play Mean Fiddler before it closed, record an album and done hundreds of other things which many people aren’t lucky enough to experience in a lifetime!
Europe was a perfect last tour, and my last show that I’ve organised should be a sweet send off!
Sean is a worthy replacement and will be able to dedicate the time which PMP deserves to push their music to new levels and expose it to more people.
Thanks to all the promoters, labels, graphic designers, t shirt printers, booking agents, sound guys and bands we’ve dealt with up to now. And an even bigger thanks to all of you that have come to see us, buy merch, press play on our myspace, check us out on youtube, cover us on youtube, told your friends and complimented us online.
Please continue to support these guys and I’ll hopefully join you in the crowd at one of their future shows!
