Das PotatoSystem bietet Labels und Musikportalen eine flexible und kostengünstige Möglichkeit, MP3-Files über das Internet (Jetzt auch auf MySpace!) zu verkaufen. Dabei kann der Verkaufspreis für den Download vom Anbieter der Musikdateien selbst festgelegt werden.
Käufer von Musikfiles erhalten zusätzlich das Vertriebsrecht für diesen Song, wenn sie sich beim PotatoSystem registrieren. So werden sie zu Resellern. Die Käufer können so erworbene Stücke auch über die eigene Website anbieten. Die Reseller erhalten vom Verkaufserlös eine Provision.

The PotatoSystem is an innovative and flexible alternative for artists, labels and music portals to sell music by the web (Now also on MySpace!) using the MP3 format. The Potato System allows the seller to define any retail price for a song or album.
The consumers do not just pay for the right to hold a music file but also for the right of redistribution. Thus, the registered customers, who can be end-users of the PotatoSystem or online businesses, become resellers. They can super-distribute the music via their websites. Resellers receive a commission for redistributing a music file.
