  • Bio

Pott Street has been pushing Hip Hop forward in the Northern Territory since the group came together in the mid 1990's as the natural progression of a shared love of Hip Hop culture and music between close friends growing up on the same street in Darwin, Pott Street. Comprising of 4 members with 4 distinct styles, Fliz, 'O' Zee, Gusto and Dizzle, create a sound that can simply be described as unique within the Australian Hip Hop community. Ever confident and curious in their recordings, Pott Street is not shy when it comes to utilizing all forms of instrumentation to create timeless sounds delivered with a laid back ease and fresh flow typical of the classic Darwin lifestyle. Through tireless networking and the in-grained hustle synonymous with Hip Hop culture, Pott Street has independently secured National & International radio play for their music on stations such as CAAMA, Radio Larrakia & TEABBA Radio in the N.T, Radio Adelaide, The Edge 96.1FM in Sydney with K-Sera (Australia's leading Hip Hop & RNB Show), Triple J's Hip Hop Show with Maya Jupiter, Live & Local on ABC Radio Darwin and internationally with the BBC. Pott Street has also participated in nationally and internationally syndicated Radio Interviews with ABC Radio National, ABC Radio Darwin Live & Local with Annie Gastin, ABC Radio Darwin Evenings with Briony Petch, Radio Larrakia, CAAMA Radio with G Man, BBC, The Edge 96.1FM with K-Sera, Radio Adelaide with MC Frost, Blue Thunder with Billy T and Live & Loud on TEABBA Radio. Pott Street we're also the subject for a feature story on ABC Radio National's "Awaye" program produced by Rico Adjrun and hosted by Daniel Browning. Live Pott Street show's are a high energy event and the group is well known for hosting and performing at "Pott Street Party's" in clubs around Darwin since 2001. The group has performed at numerous local concerts & shows including the Darwin Fringe Festival, FIGJAM, Naidoc Day, Naidoc Ball and Oz Hip Hop Alive and were also the Headlining Act for the Launch of Redfern Records Entertainment Label at Moulin Rouge in Sydney in late 2007. Pott Street's hit songs "We Luv 2 Party" and "This Is What It Is" were featured on the Redfern Records release "Beats from tha Streets – Volume One" which is Australia's 1st ever Aboriginal Hip Hop/Rap Compilation. The album was released in 2008 and can be found in selected JB Hi-Fi stores around Australia and various music outlets in Sydney. Pott Street were the cover story of the November 2009 issue of Off The Leash Magazine and have recently been featured in Australian Musician Magazine, Resident Magazine, The Palmerston Sun, The Centralian Advocate and The NT News. The Pott Street crew were big winners at the 2009 Indigenous Music Awards taking home "Best Emerging Act" and a $10,000 Touring Grant Award which saw the band tour and workshop throughout the Top End and Central Australia in July 2010 culminating in a raucous end of tour show & CD Launch at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. Pott Street's song "Struggle" off their independently released "High North" album was also nominated at the 2010 Indigenous Music Awards for "Best Song" and was added to the ABC Radio Darwin and Triple J playlist. "Struggle" also caught the attention of ABC TV who shot a video for the song with Pott Street and featured it as a closing segment for their Stateline program. 2010 was a big year for performances as Pott Street were blessed to open for international star Fat Man Scoop in August and for legendary Hip Hop group Bone Thugs n' Harmony in November at Discovery Nightclub and haven't looked back since with opening performances now lined up for IYAZ and other international artists in 2011. Pott Street released their independent album, "High North", which was fully written, produced, engineered & mastered in-house by Pott Street in July 2010 and the album is available online at www.pottstreet.com and can be found in music shops around Darwin and in Alice Springs and remote Northern Territory via CAAMA Records.
